What would you do if you were lost in a forest alone all night?

Think I watch too many horror movies? Yes I do and I always seem to know what the actors should do as I'm sitting here watching them run around in circles in a totally black nighttime forest. But I can't help but wonder if I would do the things I think they should do if I were really in that situation!
If I were lost in the middle of a forest at night I like to think I would find a place to just sit and wait until daylight and then hope someone would find me while trying to find my way out.
To be totally honest...I don't think I would even go INTO a forest if it were getting anywhere near nighttime and especially not alone.
What would you do if it did happen to you? Would you have a plan?

As I said in another one of your posts, I Love horror movies and I watch them a lot!
I think the key is... first, Why are you in a forest alone in the middle of the night. Don't do it in the first place!
Second, Don't run and keep looking back. Run and don't look back! Just run! Oh and if someone else randomly pops out to help you...DON'T trust them! Keep Running to civilization and get someone there to help you!
Ha ha. I'd totally think I'd survive a horror movie. I've studied well :)

lol...I would be great in a horror movie except that I wouldn't do all the stupid things they make the victims do so I would end up getting fired. I would make the movie less scary! lol...

lol...reminds me of some dumb things we did when I was a kid but too stupid to get out of. We used to go into this old boarded up corner store to make out...lol..no thoughts of rats, bugs, crazy axe wielding people or anything! If I had seen some of today's movies I never would have done that one!

yeah, it's funny because you say that, but then it's like what would you do if you were in that situation?
I mean, I've been in some scary, creepy situations and my instinct was always to get away. I remember once my friend and I were staying at her boyfriends place (we were like 12 and this dude was like 17 and it was weird and I never wanted to go in the first place) and his dad was trying to find out who was there and was trying to get into the room we were locked in and I was just like "Dude he went back upstairs lets GO!" and just wanted to leave the house whereas she was all just like "nah let's just stay here" ...we left! ha ha. I survived that one!

We're on the same page there, ctry. I mean, why would anyone be caught near a forest close to dark. And to enter it is just stupid, duh. I guess they have to make these asinine movies because they know we like to be scared out of our wits. They know we'll continue to watch them no matter how stupid they are, lol.

LOL...I think they make these movies just to keep me entertained. I basically sit here yelling at the dumb people in them. No brains huh?

Well, if I was lost while hiking, I'd have an emergency kit with me, so I'd just wrap myself up and sleep until morning. I wouldn't start a fire because right now in my area, there's a high risk of forest fires.
Most areas around here, even the forests, get cell phone reception, and there's a GPS tracker on my phone so the police would be able to find me. I could call for help.

First, I'm with you. I will not even go into a forest! I'm not that nuts yet! LOL!! just even the thought of being lost in the forest scares the hell out of me. I love watching horror movies too..and if i'll be lost in the forest i'll die because of all my imaginations gone wild that'll be running in my mind! LOL!! But seriously, if i'll be lost in the forest, maybe i'll run & run *screaming while running* (hoping i'll find my way back). If not, obviously, i'll get tired of running, so i'll find a nice spot to sit, remembering my girl scouts days, hehehehe, make a fire, then when i'm settled, i'll sing a song and dance *i'll look stupid for sure LOL!!*, well, i guess i'll just amuse myself so i'll not get bored or not get scared.
cheers! :D

I'm thinking that all of that noise your going to make will draw attention to where you are and that could go either way. If there are any "horror movie crazies" around they will find you but on the other hand if there are real people who can help that would be a good thing. My imagination would tend to make me believe that leatherface was out there looking for me...lol...

i would make a fire with flint and steel or by rubbing 2 dry sticks toghether over something thin like a birds next get a nice fire going if i was completely lost in the middle of nowhere probably make a leaf stove and cook some little bugs in it eat them find a source of fresh water set up a lean-to there and wait it out I was once in the woods for 3 days by myself with only an ax but i did that on will.

I've actually gone up to the farm and walked into the woods late at night in the dark. Granted I had a flashlight but it was still fun. I did this looking for the wolve den out there in hopes of seeing their pups. I did get lost but I recalled in what direction the moon was in the sky and followed that to get out. I was deep in maybe 1000 feet or so. HAHAHA! So that's my way out. Pay attention to the sky as you enter and remember what is in the sky and where at as far as location.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Iwould hope and pray that I could light a fire. Then I would sit there basking in the light of the fire until daylight. Campfires seem so much friendlier.

I would kiss my a$$ goodbye. I was a girl scout but that was 100 years ago and I have forgotten what I should do so I would sit down and wait for rescuers or bears which ever came first.

Well, since I'm scared of the dark AND the woods...LOL I'd be in trouble!
I'd like to say I'd find a nice spot, start a fire and wait for daylight but somehow I think I'd be to scared to sit still. I'd probably be the one to run around in circles getting more and more lost. But then again, I might be too scared to move around so maybe I'd just end up curled up in a ball...
I did get lost in the woods at night once before but I had four cousins with me so it wasn't too bad. We had two blankets with us but couldn't get a fire lit. We just laid down and tried to sleep and keep warm. It wasn't too scary while it was dark but once the sun came up things got scary....Around dawn we heard a weird noise. We peeked out from under the blanket and saw a mountain lion standing 10 feet away! We knew better than to try and run but just laying there as still and quiet as we could be waiting for it to go away was pretty nerve wracking. Once it did go away we got and saw tracks where it had been circling right around us...and I mean within 2-3 feet!

That story is a little too scary for me...lol....I say I would stay in one spot for the night but I'm afraid I would panic and be one of those who would be going in circles until the sun came up!

I love to watch horror movies. And forest during night is really very scary. You don't need ghosts to made it scary or horror. Forest is already wild and that feeling even makes you scared.
If I stuck in some forest alone all night. I would search for some safe place to hide. It's very dangerous to roam around alone in forest at night.

I think I would be more afraid of the kind of "people" I might run into than any animals I would bump into.

i will do my best to survive, all i have learn in my boyscout years will be applied. likewise, I will do my best to get out from the forest and find the nearest civilization i can find. of course when you are alone you need a lot of motivation to go further and nver surrender or else you will end up eaten by lions, wolf, bears, snakes and other nasty animals. my plan for survival is not to stop running as long as i can. if i get tired then i will climb a tree and look what direction should i go with. i will eat anything edible that i will find in my way.the key is never stop and try to live the easiest way.

I don't think I would venture into a forest at night, and I don't think I would run around in circles if I were lost (unless I were being chased by some beast). I would hope to heck I would have plenty of water and bug repellant and then sit back and wait for daylight.

Well like you, I would find a spot to set at, but most likely spend my time crying like a baby. I have a fear of the dark and the woods, so combine them and I would completely useless.

Hi. First I would look at making me some shelter for that night, get some fire wood for a fire and go find a stream to catch a fish or collect some wild berries or food that forest may have, I would already have a ligher and a bottle of water with me...

It is hard for me to imagine any circumstance in which I could become lost in a forest, as I probably have enough sense not to go into some place without knowing how to get out again. I spent most of my childhood in what is called a virgin timber, and felt very comfortable going into the bush, so to speak at any hour of the day or night. As a teenager, I had a weekend job that did not let out until 2 in the morning. It was not unusual for me to row my boat upriver when I got home from work, especially in nice weather when the moon was full. On darker nights I used to walk deep into the forest and sit on a rock by the creek listening to the frogs croaking and to all the other animal sounds. I grew up that way, so I didn't know you were supposed to be afraid.
This was before the environmentalists started relocating coyotes, cougar, wolves and other dangerous animals who have no natural enemies there into the area. Now, I'd probably terrified, and rightly so.

Well I always have my cellphone with me so the first obvious thing I will do is phone my family and tell 'em to come and fetch me!
Now don't tell me if I didn't had network coverage in that forest then wat would I do...Well I'll be really panicked and would scream until i don't see someone to help.
