I think England is a country inside the United Kingdom of GB & UK (Ukraine) yes it is a country itself in Eastern Europe.

Just to add to the discussion, strictly speaking Great Britain is the island that consists of mainland England, Scotland and Wales. It can also mean England, Scotland and Wales or as has already been mentioned, the UK itself.
Ireland was part of the UK until 1921 when 26 of the 32 counties were granted independence. The remaining 6 have a British majority and are known as Northern Ireland.
