I have been diagnosed with this syndrome due to the war in Iraq. I just want everyones opinion on if they think that the military is getting the fair treatment for PTSD when they all come home and are diagnosed with it. If there is anyone that knows ways to cope with this better or where some good help may be then please feel free to let me know.
I do not feel that the military is getting the proper treatment for this just due to the fact that I have been through treatment and all they wanted to do was blame it on everything but the war.

If they are not blaming it on the war, what the heck are they blaming it on? And no, I do not think they way they are handling it is right, a friend of mine has been to Iraq through both of the wars, and is now retired, and he was just diagnosed with PTSD, and has had the symptoms for a long long time. They put him on Celexa and that seems to be the only treatment they can come up with for him. I think it is nuts, but I do not know what else to do besides just be there for him when he needs us.

They try to dig up anything in your past life and blame it on that. They tried to blame it on something that happened when I was 14. They put me on Serequel for sleep and Prozac for depression. Neither one helped me any. I have been through 4 medications. My PTSD caused my ex-wife to walk out on me because I tried to kill her in my sleep numerous of times. Therapy did nothing for me but irritate me.

First, I want to thank you for serving in our armed forces!
I don't think the military helps our soldiers get the treatment they need for things like PTSD. It doesn't surprise me they blame everything but the war.
I'm not sure how much this will help, but there are probably chatrooms or boards out there for PTSD. There are for other things like Hep C. The people talk about what problems they are having, what works and doesn't work...things like that.
I hope you find the help you need! I wish I could suggest more. :(

What people are denying is that the military sees it's veterans as disposable people, as pawns on a chess board. They are worthless in the eyes of the government, only put there to fight the President's war, brainwashed into believeing they are fighitng for freedom when what they are doing is fighting against freedom.
When the Veterans come home the government ignores the problems on the inside, while barely aknowledging the problems on the outside.
Our troops are not disposable, and it's about friggen time the government wakes up and digs out of the hole they've dug themselves into by treating people as disposable.

I don't know much about PTSD. I do know that the military doesn't really help there soliders. If it will make them look bad, they will do everything in there power to push it under the rug.
Support groups, with other people that suffer with PTSD. Here is one
