I got a call from my mom last Sunday. She told me that something got my cat, but she didn't know what. I guess some lady who lives 1+ miles away from my parents found her in her yard and called. She said it looked like my cat had been in a cat fight. I don't know if it was the next day or what, but I guess my brother in-law saw a bobcat in the neighborhood. They don't normally come down near my parents, but since homes are being built up near the mountains, they have to find somewhere else to go. And I guess it tried to get my sister's cat, too. He had some scratches and a chunk of fur missing from his neck. I asked my mom if she got her collar, but she didn't. However, she DID go to the Humane Society and picked it up for me. I just got in the mail today. I can't even open it. I had a hard enough time pulling it out of the mailbox.:(

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear your sad news. It's horrible to lose a pet, and as I understand it, the grieving process is just as bad as for a family member. It must be a very difficulat time for you right now, and you have my sympathy. All the best.

Thanks. It's sad to lose a pet. In my opinion, it's like losing a friend. I once had a guy tell me years ago when I lost another cat that I needed to get over it. And I believe he told me this the same day it happened or the next day. Either way, it wasn't long after the incident. I stopped talking to the *enter choice of word here* right then and there. After yelling at him, of course.

Bloody hell! I don't blame you in the slightest!! He sounds like a total and utter a bollock-brain. The world could do with far fewer of that sort of person. All the best to you Poisongirl.

Thanks. Yeah, he's a total loser. I'm not sure he's ever had a pet, though... only fish. So, maybe he can't really relate. I don't remember, though. It was forever ago.

I am sorry to hear about your cat and hope it will be okay. One of our neighborhood cats got messed up by a groundhog a while back and had a chunk of fur missing as well and needed medical attention. The poor cat does not go into our backyards anymore because of the groundhog roaming in the woods. Look out for groundhogs as well.

Thanks to all of you who've replied, so far. I still can't bear to look at her collar. I suppose I should and just get it over with. *sigh* :(

Yes that is the heart break of having a cat that goes outside or lives out there. I lost a Tom who I so loved and adored that way. He was a stray that adopted me, but he couldn't stand being in the house. So I let him stay out as much as he wanted. A few times he came home all tore up and I would nurse him back, but then the last time he went out, he just never came home. Broke my heart. I am sorry to hear about your cat, it's sad.
