i think the manufacturer never commit on water proof, but i heard my friend said he forgot to take out the thumb drive when he put his cloth in washing machine. after wash, he take out the thumb drive and put under hot sun, after few hours ,the usb drive work fine. try it yourself.

I wouldn't suggest trying it. I don't think they could hold up to complete submersion unless the manufactured had specificaly stated that one could. Just getting a few sprinkles on one, especially if it has a cap on the connector probably would be O'K. One might survive getting wet but only if completely dried out before being used and even then there might be a corrosion problem if it is just left to dry over a long period of time. If you have one that got wet you could try drying it with some kind of air blower that is not hot and that does not get things cold. The last one would be like a compressed air can that is used to blow dust off of keyboards and computers and should always be done far enough away and quick enough to not get anything too cold which would also go for the USB stick.
