I don't really plan what I'm going to read next. I have a huge stack of books waiting to be read, so I just grab whatever tickles my fancy at the moment. Maybe I'm in the mood for non-fiction, maybe I just want mind candy. I am usually reading two or more books at one time, though. The only time I plan what I'm going to read is if I've been waiting for a book to come out. Such as the last Harry Potter book. I put everything else I had been reading on hold to finish that one.

for the most part, my reading list is planned out. i have a rather long list of books that are next to read or purchase, mostly due to the books being part of a series.
every great once in a while i will be shopping and spot an interesting book. though i never really go to an actual book store cause i would find FAR too many that i must have lol!

As many of you already know, I have over 200 books sitting at home waiting to be read. Most of them are hand-offs from my parents. When I finish reading a book I may feel like reading another by the same author, or I may feel like reading something completely different. In the case of the book I am reading right now, it has been staring me in the face for weeks begging me to read it. I had to wait until I finished the book I was reading AND got new glasses. The print is not very large and I was in desperate need of a new perscription so that was one of the reasons I waited.
I have a lot of books that are staring me in the face waiting to be read, including books I have purchased recently at great deal prices. But another priority I must think of is books that are loaned to me. A friend in my writing group loaned me a book on writing. I have yet to read it and I have had it in my possession for several months. It is time to read it and get it back to her, but at the moment I am in the mood to read novels, stories, not general interest since I just read two of those in a row.
Alas, I may find myself reading two books at once again - the book on writing and another novel.

I read many books and I get my "supply" largely from the libraries.
This means, I don't exactly get to choose. My genre is fantasy and science fiction so I will just zoom in onto this section when I visit the library.
I just scan the shelves and borrow what I think I will enjoy reading. Usually this is not a problem since we have fantastic libraries yes. Though I have read so many books, there are still many I have not read.

I sometimes plan ahead like when I'm reading a series but most often just pick whatever I'm in the mood for that day. I am a very fast reader so I go through more books than most people I know. If I'm doing research for whatever reason, then I might plan ahead more, but most of my reading is just because I enjoy it.

I rarely plan ahead what I am gouing to read, unless someone gives me a novel for a present.
Usually I just go to the library, have a good look around, & borrow four novels.
