I finished reading Half-blood again the day before yesterday, Dumbledore's death made me cry. But I couldn't figure out why he freezed Harry before Malfoy showed up?
p.s. does any one know how to amend the started discussion? I had spelling mistake. Thank you!

You will understand why when you read Deathly Hallows. All I can say is that Dumbledore always said that Harry's life was more valuable than his. And he knew that Harry will not stand aside and watch Malfoy kill Dumbledore unless he was under the Body-Bind Curse.

Yes, but there is more to Dumbledore than just the Headmaster we all knew. In Deathly Hallows you will realize that is as human as can be. After all he did say that mistakes a wise person make tend to be bigger than those of a lesser man. Read on and you will see what I mean.

It will be more clear to you that why did dumbledore freeze harry when Malfoy showed up when you have read the 7th book. As of now its just because Dumbledore knew that Harry will try to come to his aid if someone tried to kill dumbledore and thats what dumbledore didn't wanted. Thats why he freezed Harry. Sorry for being not very clear as if i will, i will spoil the suspense of the seventh book.
As to editing in the discussions already posted, i dont think so its possible.
