You Can Teach an Old Dog New Tricks

I've always avoided social networking - like YooTube, Bebo, Myspace and all the others, because basically it sounded like just what young people wanted and did, not for us 'silver Surfers' - although I don't regard myself as one of them yet!
However, a number of my friends here joined a new one (yes this is yet another post about Yuwie), and eventually I was persuaded to join it.
The difference between Yuwie and the other sites is that although these other ones earn millions of dollars for their owners they don't pay anything to the the actual members, the ones who post the messages, blogs etc. Yuwie promises to be different and actually pay you for participating in all the things you would do normally anyway.
There are differences between Social Network sites and MyLot, the main one being that on MyLot you post a discussion about a specific topic, and others respond to that discussion. On the Social Networks, you comment & send messages to specific members about topics, and about what they write in their blogs. (a blog is really similar to a discussion, only the topics chosen are less regimented). There are also specific clubs that you can join (There is one for MyLot Members), where you can discuss topics that are suitable for the club.
Payments:- there are 10 referral levels, (unlike MyLot which has only one) and if other MyLot members do join then I would suggest that they join in an orderly fashion rather than all joining from the one person, giving a better chance for everyone to create their own downline.

I realise this is an old discussion.
I was one who became disillusioned by things that were happening here two years ago, and along with about 200 others from here, I joined yuwie, but I left my account here open.
I believe the difference between the two sites is mainly in its foundation. MyLot, discussion based, is thereby based on differences of opinion. Yuwie, on the other hand, is based on friendship and in fact depends on friendship, especially if the aim is to make money (many are there not for the money, but for the friendship)
I made friends here at myLot - GOOD friends, but that friendship developed and blossomed at yuwie and friends made here became ESSENTIAL friends there. Of course, many new friendships were also formed and developed.
So why am I back here at myLot?
I still prefer the format at yuwie, but yuwie has changed. I believe the introduction of radio (many radio stations) destroyed the interaction between friends and the practice of commenting on profiles and blogging. There is almost no action there these days - except on the radios. I still have my account there, because I still have a few good friends there and I want to maintain contact with them, but yuwie is dying.

Thanks for that Cloud, I've hardly been at Yuwie this year at all, even though I have a number of friends over there, I found that it was just taking too much of my time. I try to be active here, but still can find it difficult at times.
I must say that I enjoyed your (almost daily) posts on Yuwie which was regular for a while.

Daily or almost daily for about 18 months, except when I was out of town on ministry trips, but it has been dying since early this year. Now, there is no attraction for me apart from the friends who are still there.

I would say its every dog for itself in the grand rush to get referrals, but being serious, while it would be nice to get more, its more important that if any MyLot Member is joining another site (not just Yuwie) then it would be helpful if they joined from a Mylot referral, rather than just joining the site without a referral.
Not everyone realises how referrals work, some think it means that they get the referral payments deducted from their own earnings, when it actually comes from the site owners share.
