How long do your headaches last?

Most times when I get a tension headache or migraine it lasts for at least four to six hours. And, Tylenol doesn't seem to help make the pain go away either. For some reason I get very tough headaches that just won't quit and they feel like they are going to last forever. Sometimes the only thing that will make them go away is sleep. Do you get really bad headaches like that? How long do your headaches last? What type of medicine do you use to make your headache less painful? I've never tried Ibuprofin or Migraine medicine so maybe that would help. Have you found a medicine that can make a headache go away faster?

I'd do better with sugar pills rather than Tylenol. I like asprin, aleve, one of those kind of meds because most headaches are inflamations and Tylenol doesn't treat inflamations. In fact, for me Tylenol doesn't treat anything, just makes things worse. I do find most of my headaches last 4-8 hrs, and are more classified as migraines because of the duration and frequency. Try the Ibuprofin or even good old asprin, you might be surprised it works.

I am like you. If I get a headache, it seems to last forever. Medicines don't seem to help. I usually just try to drink a bunch of water and try to wait it out.

I have had bad headaches that lasted for 3 days, I slept and woke up and slept and woke up and it's still there..all the time that I had it I was also in high fever..I'm totaly wasted that time. There are also times that a massage with efficasent oil would relief my headache in no time.

I don't have much headaches, but when I happen to have them, they tend to last for 1 or 2 hours. I usually lie down and rest or else do something enjoyable and exciting to forget about it, like go on the computer or even running around outside and playing football (soccer). Yes, it seems to relieve the pain for me which is weird. And I tend to feel better afterwards too.

I do tend to get brutal headaches at times and worse yet, migraines....when either happens I have to put a cold compress on my neck/head alternating neck to head...I difuse peppermint Essential Oils, turn the lights off, and try to unwind/destress etc etc...For headaches that bad there isnt any off the shelf type medicine that works for me at all so its finding other means to at least lessen my pain ya know...

I usually get bad sinus headaches- So bad that the only thing that helps is me grabbing my head and pressing on my forehead- OUCH! I take Advil Sinus for them- and if they aren't too bad yet - if I catch them early on- It helps within an hour- I can't sleep with a headache- Pounds too much!

I suffer from migraines. Regular medicine has never worked for me. When I have a migraine and catch it early, it will list only 24 hours. If I don't catch it in time, it will last up to four days, and frequently that sends me to the hospital for the stronger medicine. I get about 10 a month, but I only visit the ER every other month or so. If I can manage without going to the ER, I do. I hate going to the hospital. I have pathetic insurance, and the only prescription medicine they cover is Amerge. And I never can sleep them off. I can't fall alseep at all. However, my dad does have migraines and Excedrin works for him. Just make sure not to take too much or else you'll get a rebound headache. Also, give Head-On a try. It doesn't work for me, but I know two other people that is DOES work for.

It depends on what's causing mine. If I'm on the computer too long I get small eye strain headaches. If I sit back and close my eyes for a while it will usually go away without any help. Sometimes I get an irritated nerve in my neck or upper back, those can be really brutal and sometimes painkillers help and sometimes they don't. They can last for days if my back or neck is out really bad. About the only thing that helps is putting a rolled up towel under my neck and and stretching myself out a bit. Most of the time that will put it back in place. I haven't had a true migraine in a long time. I used to get them in high school a lot. Nothing helped but sitting in a quiet dark room with an ice pack on my forehead and wait for it to pass. The best thing I've found for tough headaches is ibuprofen and a cup of strong coffee or tea. The caffeine seems to help for some reason.

I barely get headaches anymore. Stop eating processed, refined, fake sugar.
