How to make money on line?

I have been reading several discussions on how to make money on line. I am really interested in this and am asking all of you who do this of ways I can do it. I would especially like to know of any UK sites available as all I seem to be finding are ones in the States. Surely there must be some UK sites out there??? Also would like the ones that are free to join as I don't think you should have to pay out first to make money.
I have joined several USA ones already. Could all who give suggestions let me know how they have succeeded with them with examples of earnings etc.

I work online. All of my jobs that I have for writing have come from www.getafreelancer.com -if you are a freelancer you can pick from about 15 different things. I just go into the copywriting and data entry part. You bid on a job and it is up to the buyer to pick you. I have blogging jobs...and writing articles...check it out!
