One of the best videogame series ever. Created by Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear series, this games involve a vampire hunter named Django in his quest to change the world. The 4th game in the series, unfortunally, got named "Lunar Knights", Django got renamed "Aaron", Sabata got renamed "Lucian", and that kind of crap, whereas in Japan is still named Bokura no Taiyou (Literally "Our Sun", Boktai for short) with the subtitle of "Django & Sabata". The reason why it got a crappy change it's because the first 2 games weren't popular enough and the third was never realized outise Japan. Why? It needs Natural Sun Light to play. Yes, Real Sunlight. You play using a Solar Sensor. If you played and loved this games, please enter...

Hi, I'm from England, and whilst I wasn't aware of this game, I should like to comment on the point you have raised about names. I enjoy it more when the characters have their original names, and certainly had no problem being a character called Ryu in Shenmue. Why, if a character is obviously from one culture, do Western companies feel the need to give them Western names. If I want to play as a Steve or David, I'll buy a Western game!
I can understand why the games title may be changed, because not knowing the Japanese language, I wouldn't even know where to start trying to pronounce 'Bokura no Taiyou' especially if it were written in traditional Japanese hiragana/katakana/kanji rather than Latin script!
However, when playing the game, I like to keep as close to the atmosphere and style that the games originator designed.
I apologise for the fact that Western companies are butchering your culture, I know this is happening to mainland Chinese, who find this horrendous, and would only say that there are many Westerners who appreciate the beauty and heritage in other countries culture, and wish to continue enjoying them is a pure a from as they can.
All the best, and I'll look into the game, though sadly the 'Lunar Knights' version.

Dude, the problem is that, the past games, they had their original names (Django, Sabata, Ringo... which are based on the Spaghetti Westerns movies) and Django yelled "TAIYOH!" (how you pronounce Taiyou) and had the name Boktai (short for the full name) in the english. And then, they end with stuff like "Aaron" and "Lucian", and skipped one game because people dont liked the solar sensor =\ I think they could have maintained the original names, there was no need of changing, because we american and european players already knew it, instead of lying with "IT'S A WHOLE NEW SERIES, ANY BOKTAI REFERENCE IT'S JUST AN ACCIDENT" whereas the Japanese version admits it's still inside the past 3 games canonity...

Unfortunately, I live in Manchester with England, and the city is famous for the fact it is always cloudy and raining! I'm not sure a solar source would be easy for us to find.
I agree that it seems stupid to make out that a new game is completely new, and not a part of a series. Surely, especially with the renaming, it could only result in the loss of its original players, who may not know that it is a sequel. If you already have a fan base for a product, build upon them, and try to expand that fan base.
To be fair, and honest with you, the characters Django etc come from the lesser publicly known 'Spaghetti Westerns' as they are known (American actors, filmed in Spain, Italian directors!). Most Westerners are only familiar with the 'Fistful of Dollars', 'For a few dollars more' & 'Good, the Bad & the Ugly' spaghetti westerns. The others are cult movies, with a small but fanatical group of followers.
Thanks for the further details, and all the best. Keep on gaming.

I knew about the Westerns XD If you play Zoktai/Boktai 2, and go to a trap, you can hear western's music (or just look on Youtube "Boktai 2 Trap").
