Hi, Id suggest getting goldfishes.There are many varieties of goldfishes ranging from a lionhead(these kinds are the cutest! and they are darlings too) to a comet. It really depends on what kind of fishes you are looking for. If you like slow moving ones you could get chicilids or angel fishes and etc. If you like bright,fast moving ones you could try tetras or to be precise neon tetra's or guppies. Guppies have really nice colours on their bodies and fan-tails but extra care is required for these kinds of fishes. You could also mix different types of fishes in one tank. But be sure to ask an expert if the types of fishes you choose are compatible with each other, if not your tank would end up like a war zone! Also you could do some research online especially for rare types as these kinds are hard to rear and require hard work. You have to worry about pH levels of the water, temperature,types of filters (filters are the most important component of owning an aquarium), gravels(if you decide to have some) There are loads of websites you can check out too. in order to know which types of fish you would like to have in your aquarium, go see the aquarium fish dealer first. there you can see an array of varieties which you might not have personally seen before yet, for you they are the ones which appeal to you most. for my part though, i have always loved goldfish, black moore and carp. you will know too about the proper care for these aquarium fishes from the dealer. from time to time you will have to pay some visits to them to inquire as to how to deal with problems which will crop up from time to time. it is not that easy to take care of fishes if it is still your first time. however, slowly, you will be able to learn from experience and through the passage of time.
