Controlling a toy Car through the Computer

Hello All, I have controlled the bell ringing time of a school with a hardware card that I developed and wrote the software using C and VB for the application. I also worked on controlling a miniature train using the same software. Now I want to move to control a car toy throh the computer. Should I do this through the USB port or through the parallel one? All my previous work has been done though the parallel port. Could somebody tell me the advantages and disadvantages? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you Abdullatif Rkieh
