What are the top most Reasons which make a great Friend?

I have friends and people who just greet, meet and vanish, others who exploit other people to the core, but how do you really recognise a great friend? Have you had any incident where you got to know that they are a great friend?

Well great friends step up when u r in biggest trouble. And formal friends will just run away at that time. It happened to me many times. And i know that i just have a couple of great friends. Others are just leeches.
