Hi larskie23! MyLot has its way to give earnings, I guess. I was not able to go online because I attened a retreat/recollection last weekend. I only went offline Saturday night and started one discussion. That was just I did! Just one discussion. I didn't even posted any comments. But I earned something, and it's more than one cent! LOL.. hehehe..
Then I never went online the whole Sunday. It's my first time not to go to myLot for more than 24 hours. *hehe* And when I checked on my earnings, I was really surprised! My earnings when I didn't go online was a cent greater than the one when I posted just one discussion. *hehe* I really thought that I would not earn anything because I didn't do anything.
So, I think it's myLot secrets. LOL...
Take care and God bless! \(",)_

Yeah, I agree that it's better to reply than to post or create new discussions. *LOL* With replying or commenting, you just express your views about the topic. While with posting discussions, you have to read their comments and comment on those comments.
Well, some don't really care about the comments of others with their discussions, but I do care about what other people have to say about my topic, that's why I reply to each and everyone who replies my discussions. And it's really time consuming!
That's why now-a-days I just limit myself to posting. At least I wouldn't have to worry if the author would ever comment. Usually they don't anyways, unless the comment itself is pretty interesting.
=)

yep, not all give comments specially when the discussion get too many responses. i limit myself too to few topics so as to have time reading responses and commenting.

Well, according to my experience mylot earnings are basically determined on quality discussions and postings.Do not expect wonders overnight by posting few responses, mylot belongs to people who love sharing their opinion with others, I believe it is an intellectual forum and should be encouraged on a healthy ground.
Remember mylot is of the users, for the users and by the users.

Hi larskie23! I have noticed that too. When I started here two months ago, I was adviced to post and create my own discussions each day but then it was hard sometimes to choose and think of a topic that you think might spark an interest to other members, and I ended up just responding to others discussions and I found it more enjoyable than waiting for replies of my own discussions. And when I respondeed to more discussions, my earnings are adding up. Just my thoughts. take care and have a nice day!

hi there faith! responding to discussions is much easier too than starting an original topic which would attract a lot of users to respond. :-)

I feel the same that responding gives more earning than starting a new discussion. As it is, I've not earned much and recently I have got few many responses of my discussions but I don't think it has added some earning!

i think, one liner responses doesnt count. so it better to make few sentences on every respond that we do.

Dear larskie23, Whenever I post response to discussions I am always getting few cents. I was offline for few days and never posted any response to any discussion and started a discussion. I was not paid a single cent. Actually I do not know how mylot calculate the payment for the response and for initating discussion.

I prefer to respond than to post a new discussions. It's hard to think of an interesting and effective topic to attract mylotters to respond. In discussions just choose the topic to respond, the subject that you could easily pour out ideas or views.

yes, that's the keypoint, an effective topic to attract mylotters to respond and surely you'll earn something out of it. ;-)

Maybe but its so fun to start discussion and see what other's have to say. By the same token, I was barely on yesterday - I was logged in but didn't participate as much but still earned money. I think its good to have a balance.

i'm not sure about that. after a while, I've just given up trying to guess which gives more or which works. if i have an idea, i just post a discussion. if I don't, then i just answer discussions. life is sometimes much much simpler when you don't think too much. :) cheerio!

Hi larskie23! The discussion you've just posted is very beneficial. I was wondering myself how one could possibly earn more. After browsing the responses given by fellow mylotters, I was all the more convinced that in this site resides intelligent & helpful community whose purpose is not just to earn more but moreso to learn more.

LOL, even if you have 100 responses on your discussions but all of it is just one liner, i dont think 100cents would count to your account too. it should go with quality responses too.

Yes, i ahve also experienced this that when you just respond its adding to your account all the time. And to start a discussion we need creativity,we have to think something new and sill there is not too much that is gained. So now i have started to answer first and if i have something in my mind then only i write new one.

I mostly post responses to discussions around here but I do notice there are earnings for both responses and starting discussions, it's just in a mysterious way and therefore sometimes when I am offline, I notice I have a bit of earnings from the starting of discussions but sometimes I don't. I think it's whichever way you prefer. I seldom start discussion because I can't think of any more topics. But if there is something I would like to know, I definitely start one just to collect opinions. Wish you good luck around here.

I think so too. I seem to earn more by posting than starting new discussions. Of course, I think everyone has different opinions here on what for and how you really get paid. I wish I knew more about how the earnings are calculated.

I can't agree with you. Yesterday i only posted responses and i only earned 20 cents, but the day before that i posted 4 discussions and responded almost nothing and i earned 29 cents. I don't really know how mylot calculates how much we earn per post but i still think that we get paid more for starting discussions than only posting responses

I am just a starter and in case what you are telling is true, then I shall start posting to topics rather than starting a discussion. For a starter like me, such feedbacks should help. I too have observed that there are no response to the discussion i have started.
