I seldom turn away from trying any type of food. I love to try new things whenever I can. Visiting my daughter in CA one time she wanted to try a new Japanese restaurant because she heard their sushi was great. This was my first experience with Japanese food and thought I would give it a try! Not only am I not into raw food but I don't think the taste was that great either. She said it's something you have to get used to. Well, in my book I don't want to get used to eating raw fish so I'm definitely staying away from sushi!Have you experienced a food that you didn't like right from the first taste? Did you give it a chance or decide not to eat it ever again?

I hate a lot of food so this is pretty much impossible for me to answer. I don't eat pork. I don't like Fish. I don't like most red meat. I don't like a lot of sauces. I don't like cooked vegetables. I don't like condiments...need I go on?
I'd rather just stick to eating what I like than thinking about eating what I don't like because there are far too many things.

I like raw vegetables. like carrots and broccoli and stuff. I love chicken. I do eat like cheeseburgers or all beef hot dogs once in a while. I do turkey.
I love pizza! and Cheese!
Ha ha. I really do eat, I'm just picky about WHAT it is I eat. But I'll try anything... at least I do try stuff.

LOL, I think I would have to agree with you about the sushi, ctry. I have never even wanted to try it. I love vegetables, and I never met one I didn't like-until I tried asparagus. I have tried it a couple of times but the taste doesn't appeal to me at all. My mother loved it, but where I grew up it was never served that I can remember. So I guess taste is an acquired thing.

It seems that I like most of the veggies that most don't and I do love asparagus especially fresh.

I will eat asparagus if there is a cheese sauce on top. It's not bad, then.

I don't get into the idea of eating raw fish either, yuck!
I hate liver! I don't care how it's cooked and who cooks it, it's nasty! I have given it a try before but the stuff makes me gag. It's the idea and the taste. The liver is a filter of the body, I can't get that out of my head.

Liver and onions with bacon to me is awesome. Sometimes it just has to be made the right way. But then there are people who just hate it and that's ok too.

My unspoken rule in life is to eat or at least try anything that is edible. The only reason I will not eat is when you tell me that what is in front of me and about to be consumed is a snake, some animals that leave a nasty taste in the palate...aaarghhh... I wouldn't like that!

yup, no snake for me either. I don't even like eel even though my mother has put it in her spaghetti sauce....yuck!

Well, I'm a horribly picky eater, so I don't eat very much! Lol. I have a loooong list of things I don't eat. Lets see...any and all types of seafood I don't like (smells funny and I like my food to smell good) I don't like pork in any form (sausage, bacon, etc) I don't like to eat a lot odd meats, like goat or duck or I'm not a big fan of beef either. I mostly just eat chicken. I pretty much like all fruits and vegetables, except for broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. (Yuck! LOL)
And usually when I run into these foods or weird looking foods that smell bad, I won't taste it. If it looks weird but smells good...I might, but it really just depends on my mood. I'm not very adventurous with what I put in my mouth! Haha.

A lot of people say they are picky eaters I think they just know what they like and don't like. Everyone has their favorites in everything especially food.

Well - I'm very strict on this - if I don't like something from the first time I usually never eat it afterwards - you can't make me eat it aat no price. Typical examples of food I HATE deeply are:
spinache, vegetable marrows, nettle, melon, aubergine
Even their smell makes feel terrible and my friends never put the plate with marrows in front of me :)

I'm the same way. Once I taste something and don't like it then that's it for me. Never again.

There is some sushi you can get that is cooked, and I enjoy some of that. I think that the main draw for me of the sushi is the wasabi (green horseradish). I love it!
The things that I just won't eat: tomatoes (except for fried green tomatoes); mushrooms; olives; sour cream; guacamole; anchovies; sardines. Some of it is taste and some of it is texture. I cannot stand those foods.

I generally like Japanese food except for the raw fish. I'm allergic to foods such as shrimp, squid, crabs/lobsters. Don't feel sorry for me. I don't like their taste or smell anyway, so no real loss for me.

It's hard to like a food if you can't even stand the smell of it. Usually that's the part that draws us to it!

The one thing I absolutely refuse to try is Sushi. I can't necessarily say I hate it because I have never tried it. Will I ever try it? Absolutely not! Something about raw fish just does not appeal to me. As my best friend says if you wanted to eat raw fish you could just go to the lake and catch a fish and eat up. YUCK!

you remind me of something my sister said "i don't want to go to japan because i don't like raw fish" i grew up with a lot of asian food. i actually LOVE sushi, it doesn't alway have to be made with raw fish, i actually don't like fish too much. when you eat a basic Maki sushi, there is only a small bit of fish. but i make it with some pan fried tuna (from a can) with a pinch of sugar, when i make it at home that is. There's also Tomago which is just egg and rice with a nori wrapper and of course Inari with just rice and some vegetables. I tried to stay away from fish because bad experiences at my grandparents house watching my grandfather suck the eyeballs of the fish he just cooked...nasty. but i went to a Japanese restaurant and the cook specially made us a fish dish, and it was pretty good. gotta get used to the texture though. But Japanese food is more then just sushi as well. I've been to japan and OH the food is amazing and so cheep too. a lot of good noodles dishes. anyway, back to your questions...a food i'll never try is BEATS...tried it when i was little and it made me throw up, so i don't think i'll try it again. and probably most sea foods like octopus and other shellfish.

Fried liver of any type be it beef or chicken. I get sick to my stomach just smelling liver cook. My mom made liver and onions a lot as I grew up and I used to puke coming home smelling it cooking. Never ever will I eat livers. nEVER IN MY LIFE. My wife knows this also.
HAPPY POSTINHS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Like you, I will not eat sushi. I also do not like liver of any type. I actually have to leave the room if I smell liver being cooked! As for vegetables, I pretty much love them all except lima beans. There is very little seafood that I eat. Unlike most people, I do not like oysters, mussels, crab and lobster!
