Last year I started to crochet and I crochet a lot of my family's Christmas presents and they loved it. Now I am working on the perfect Christmas present. It is and afghan with a foot cover. It is very simple all you have do is do your favorite afghan pattern or just make your own pattern(That's what i did.) then you fold up enough of the bottom to make like a envelope and then you can either crochet the sides together or sew them and then add your border or edging whichever you call it. I think this is the greatest thing you don't have to worry about your feet coming uncovered when it's cold.

I think thats a great idea adding the pocket at the end. I actually have crochet Christmas presents, and my dad mentioned to me a couple of weeks ago he would love to have a crochet hat so I am going to make him one. Last year, I made my daughter a black scarf, and she said she would love to have a cream one so I made it about two months ago.

This sounds really neat. I crocheted a couple of scarves out of the Happy Hooker book. It's a crochet book by Debbie Stoller.

I have crocheted things as gifts for people in the past but nothing in the last several years. Now that you mention it though, I think I'll make a afghan for my brother for Christmas this year and maybe one for my nephew. My Bro's wife is leaving him and he and my nephew will be having their first holidays without her this year. It might help to warm them up somewhat. I like the idea of the envelope afghan. Thanks for the suggestion, I think I'll try that.

I crochet a lot of our Christmas presents that we give but I usually start too late in the year and end up getting burned out on crocheting for a long time. I've started in August for a change and I'm hoping that I won't get burn out again. I usually wait until November and that's just way too late. I make scarves, doilies, sachets as gifts.
