Have you ever had this happen to you??

You are needing a mop. You go to the store, select a nice sturdy mop, one with a interchanging head. One that you can just replace when it gets incredibly yucky and dirty. You buy an extra replacment mop head, so you don't have to make a trip to the store in a few months to replace it.
After 6 months to a year, your poor mop head has seen better days. You replaced the original a few months back, but now, you need to get another. You make a trip to the store. You search all the mops, and interchangable heads. You can't FIND the one you are looking for! Nothing even RESEMBLES the mop head that you need. You search all over, going to different stores, knowing that your mop head is out there SOMEWHERE!!!
Finally, you just give up. Buy a new mop, and a new mop head. Maybe this time you pick up a few extra mop heads.
This is a true story. It doesn't only happen with mops, but razors, various cleaning solutions, bobbins for my sewing machine. I am just about ready to give up on everything!
So, are you able to find interchangable parts for the things you need to replace?

I did try looking, but I don't know the brand of my mop! No where on it, does it tell me what it is.
The newest one I purchased is a Mr. Clean mop, purchased at walmart earlier this summer. I made sure I remembered at least that much, so I know where to start.
Welcome to mylot! I hope to see you around more!!! :)

Oh this always happens. for mops I end up tying cleaning rags to the bottom ...it works. My biggest problem is vacuum cleaner bags... whatever vaccum I choose , ineveitably th e particular bags go off market and are impossible to find. have never had trouble with sewing machine parts(knock on wood) I stick to singer and white.

I'll have to try the rag thing. I guess that's a thought that never occurred to me. :)
Vacuum cleaner bags are an impossible find for me, too! I can never remember what size I need. I only have one bedroom with a carpet and one rug, so I guess it doesn't matter too much.
Find the bags you need and buy them on sale. I'll keep them in my storage shed!!

Ps...havent bought a new mop in years...the rags work great. I empty my vaccum bags and re-use them for as long as I'm able to which saves considerably. I found a specialty shop close by which sells the bags i need for a very high price....i make them last long as possible

Honey didn't you know that it is a conspricy? You need the mop heads now the mops don't wear out fast enough so inn order to get you to buy a new mop and spend more of you hard earned cash the store in cahoots with the manufaxturers and the gas companies make you run all over looking for that replacable mop head (Razors, cleaning solutions, and lastly bobbins) So when you are tired of driveing all over you finelly give up and purchase a new mop and extra head. They allow you to think that you are saving money whenin reality you end up buying the gas to hit those different stores looking for a new mop head that was discontinued the day you bought the new mop and extra head. The heads of these companies are sitting up there in their lovely commfy offices and are laughing their heads as they picture us down here running from store to store to find that discontinued head and being forced to give up and buy a new one. I heve the solution. Get one of those old fashioned mops that use rags. You can always get rags and old towels from thrift stores for much less and save time. I don't what to tell you about the razors, various cleaning solutions, bobbins for your sewing machine.

They are having a good laugh, aren't they? LOL!!!
The razor thing really makes me angry. In the 12 years my hubby and I have been together, he's had only 1 razor. I've had 4 or 5!!! I can't find those replacement blades that fit anywhere! (sigh) I think I'll just get the disposable BIC razors and be done with it. Or, I'll rent a storage shed to store all the replacement parts in. Yeah, that's what I will do.
All part of that conspiracy plan... Now the storage shed places are in on it too. LOL!!!!!
Thanks for the hearty laugh today, deebomb. Thanks, also, for understanding!

The same thing happened to me when I went to get the replacement head for my mop! The attachment part had changed on the new ones, so I can't even replace the disgusting one that I already have. **SIGH** I guess I'll have to go buy a new one now. LOL

Well, make sure you buy enough replacement ones, and you can store them in my storage shed! (see previous posts!) At least then we are only paying ONE monthly rental than 5! LOL!

I bet if you could still get the mop head then it would have broken. LOL They need to sell product what better way than product obsolescence.
I use an electric razor because I had the same razor problem.

That's funny! It just kills me that DH can buy replacement blade anywhere at anytime. I have to drive all over the state and do online searches, etc. just to find something that MIGHT work!
Maybe I'll take his Norelco and use that on my legs. Oh, I don't think he'll be happy with that! LOL!

I've given up on the mop thing. I'm using the Swiffer wet jet now. So far, I've had no problem getting refills for that, thank goodness. Another really annoying replacement problem is when you search all your local stores for your razor replacements and can't get one. Fun stuff.
Oh and don't even get me started on the vacuum cleaner bags! Those are horrible to find!
I also have a slightly different problem. Ever buy a broom that you really, really like (or some other item). It eventually wears out of course, so you look for another one only to find they're not there anymore.

You hit ALL those nails on the head rowantree! :)
There is nothing more frustrating than KNOWING that piece should be out there SOMEWHERE! and you just don't have a clue where it may be.
You, too, can send your extras to my storage shed, I'll keep them safe for you! :)

We bought one of those seen on TV mops from our State fair many years ago. I cant recall the brand name but its the one with the hard blue rubber head etc that wrings out. Anyhow we go to the fair every year and buy 2 more new heads for it as they are always there with a booth. This has been for about 6 years or so now so we dont have this problem. I love this mop as well. It works great and the heads are easily replaced with just a screwdriver.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That's great! I have seen those mops on TV, but always think, by the time that sucker makes it through my front door, the company will go defunct, and I will lose any chance of finding a new head! LOL!!!
Oh well, the old one works pretty good for the kids to play "house" with out on the patio. Those concrete blocks never looked so clean! (even with the dirty mop head!!)
