Is anyone else out there as dis-satisfied as I am about the trade for Eric Gagne? I always thought that if it wasn't broke ... .Don't fix it. I think the Sox would have been much better off if they kept Gabbard and left Jon Lester in Pawtucket where he could continue to get work and build up strength for th efuture. Gabbard had been doing an excellent job and has done well for his new team too. On the other hand, Gagne, who had been struggling during his last few appearances before the trade continuse to struggle with the Sox. I hope I am proven wrong in the long haul but right now this trade does not look good for the Sox.

Yeah, I am also beginning to question the significance of this trade. At first, I said to myself wow, Theo is really strengthening our bullpen. But then after the two recent games Gagne blew, I am beginning to have my doubts. Before and during the trade deadline, I thought that what the Red Sox really needs are batters/hitters. The bullpen is really strong and that group can stay as it is but we need scorers. How many games did the Red Sox played where they can only produced a couple of hits. Just look at Dice-K's stats, he is pitching better than an average pitcher but he only have 13 wins. He could have more wins if only our batters score more in some of his games. I also thought that Kason Gabbard did a nice job filling in for Curt Schilling. Jon Lester is struggling a bit lately but he's still young and still developing. I can also say the same with Clay Bucholz.

I think the Gagne-Gabbard trade has Boston at a losing edge. From what Gagne has shown during his past few games, it's definitely a so, so game. With regards to the bullpen of Red Sox, I think I like what I see in Dice K, Tim Wakefield and Beckett. I like the way Dice K plays but sometimes it irritates me somehow (well the thrill is there). I want to see a better batting power from the Red Sox and a better Dice K in his future games.
