DO you prefer to go to farmer's markets? Or do you shop at large chain grocery stores?
my husband and I are actually trying to grow most of our food at home. If not, we like the farmer's market, and we try to shop at the organic grocery store. We rarely go to large chain stores anymore. What about you?

We go to a nearby chain store. We live in the middle of the city - a farmer's market would be a 45 minute drive, and we're lazy.

Not lazy, but frugal and environmentally conscious. The farmer's market is close to my house, but the organic grocery store is 45 minutes away. I only shop there if I am already in that town for another reason. We plan our trips so that we can do multiple things away from home, as it makes no sense to burn a bunch of gas just to buy groceries.

I try to do my shopping at natural food stores and at farmers markets. I love shopping at farmers markets the best, I usually make an entire morning of it. I live in the city but there are farmers markets in parks all over Toronto. I bring the dog, we do our shopping, then I walk her around the rest of the park until lunch time.

When i am the one who goes shopping its usually at the chain grocery store in town, or at the local meat market for the lunch meats and hamburgers. I wish we had a super
Walmart here, maybe sometime soon

I wish we had room in our yard for a large garden but we don't. I did put in small garden a few years ago with tomatos, bell peppers and some lettuce. It was wonderful having fresh veggies around. I like shopping at the farmer's markets too. There are a lot of them around here. A lot depends on how big of a hurry I'm in. If I have time I'll stop at the farmer's market before I hit the store. If not then it's just the store for me. :D

I wish I could do what you are doing. I do grow some tomatoes, some lettuse, peppers, chillis and some herbs and spices, but we do not have much space to grow vegetables on.
I sometimes go to the farmers markets, and about once every two months I go to Whole Foods or Fresh Foods, to get some special items, but I really cannot afford to buy my vegetables there or do my normal grocery shopping there. My family has a very tight budget, and I usually go to Winn Dixie, Publix, CVS and Walgreens. This is where I can find the best deals in our neighborhood.

There is a really nice groccery store right across the street from where I am staying in Arizona. I can walk there, and that is good for me, because I really can't walk very far. Right next to that groccery store is a beautiful little cafe that I absolutely love. They serve ice cream, and they make my coffee just the way I like it.

I admire you for growing your own food. That would be an ideal situation. Shopping at chain stores is just so expensive and you get hardly nothing for all th money you spend there. I'm growing potatoes, tomatoes and peas at the moment and would love to grow much more. I think there is a lot of money to be saved by buying in bulk and buying at markets and growing your own. Also organic is so expensive to buy, so growing your own organic produce is definitely the way to go.
