my dog is really overweight I have tried everything my vet suggested and nothing seems to work. he is very healthy otherwise. Should I be too worried about it? I have stopped feeding him table food, and put him on weight controll dog food. I tried to increase his exercise but he had a hard time. any suggestions on other ideas that would help him? I even put the cat food where he couldnt gget it because he was sneaking into the room and eating it while I was at work. :(

yes, he is on a very controlled diet now. it is hard to stick with it because he begs and gives me the cute eyes, but I go sit outside to eat when I feel like giving in. The vet said he seems healthy now but I need to get it under controll so he stays that way.

thanks. I usually walk him in the morning, before work and twice at night. it is easier also that my kids have started helping more.

I think its criminal to over feed a dog! My dog is tied up quite a bit. He gets exercise every day, but seldom ever runs loose. Hes an Australian Sheep dog and very attractive. His coat is shiny and hes very healthy. I feed him all he will eat dry dogfood once a day. He has never been in my house and has never missed it.He has a nice warm house of his own and he enjoys living outside in his doghouse, One of the biggest problems a dog can encounter is when his owner believes hes Human. A dog is not a Human and should never be treated like one.Table scraps are poison for a dog. Dogs in the wild eat once a day , and sometimes only once ever other day, depending on what they can find. Never leave food in his dish, after hes eaten all he can!

I don't know how you it has been since you stopped feeding him table scrapes and exercising him, but it may take a while for results. Also ask your vet and see if he has any suggestions.
