It depends on who I am on the phone with, and what exactly I am doing in the bathroom (wont do #2 on the phone haha). If it is my hubby or best friend, I think nothing of it because they do it to me to. I do warn them tho that I am going so they know not to be alarmed if they hear me. Its ultimately up to the person whether they want to share that or not. I don't think your uptight for not wanting to. It makes you who you are.

I have only done this once when my husband called, and told him what I was about to do. I put the phone down on the bathroom sink, did my business, flushed, washed my hands and then began talking with him again LOL I know its rude but I had to go hahah!

Before giving you my perspective...I'm curious about why you are embarrassed. It is not as if they can see what you are doing. Now if they can 'hear' what you are doing I agree that could be embarrassing.
So anyway to answer your question. Yes I do talk on the phone while in the bathroom...and so does my hubby. Now to avoid people 'hearing' when it is time to 'move' things through we temporarily use the mute button for a moment or two and ask the person on the other end to excuse us...something has come up. Then after the bodily functions are complete and the toilet is flushed...we say...'back live' and carry on.
Would never have though of posting this disucssion...but it should be interesting to read what others have to say.

The mute button never occured to me.
But even with the mute button, you can still hear the echo in the bathroom and they'd "know" where you are.
Not sure why I feel this way. I just think bathroom time is private time as much as possible.

I am at the age that when i have to go to the bathroom i really have to go and I can't wait so yes I do go to the bath room when I'm on the phone. But I don't the party I'm talking to that I'm in the bathroom. They don't need to know what I'm doing.

Well, it really depends on who i am talking to. If i am talking to Jason or Sarah i will because they have both done the same thing with me and we are really close. If i am talking to Justin i will because i am close to him and sometimes he showers with me on the phone. If i am talking to ANYONE else, i won't do it. i tell them i need a minute, i put down the phone, use the restroom, wash my hands, then return to my call.

I do take the phone with me but use the mute button if there is something I don't wish them to hear. I won't flush until I'm done talking and hang up though unless it's a friend or mom or hubby on the other end of the line. Gotta love that mute button!

I don't see anything wrong with talking on phone while in the bathroom. The other party cannot see whatever you are doing, unless ....
Personally I do not talk on the phone unless it is urgent on both ends, and that is when I was already on the phone before I go into the bathroom. Otherwise, the phone can wait.

No you're not being uptight about this...I could never talk while in the bathroom especially if I was "taking care of business"--LOL--I mean would you want to be talking to someone and THEY were in the bathroom and you could hear what they were obviously doing..I would think it really rude or them

I've done it when talking to my wife and she doesn't mind but recently I was in Target and there was a guy in the stall and it sounded like he was getting rid of a particularly bad mexican lunch and was chatting happily away on his cell with what sounded like a business call....weird I thought

I will talk to my husband or two of my sisters while I am in the bathroom. I tell them that I'm going, and none of them mind. I even warn them when I'm going to flush the potty. lol
It really grosses my mom out when people do that. She is always telling my dad and my little sister (she still lives at home) that they shouldn't do it, so I would never talk to her while I was using the bathroom. But the other people that I am super comfortable with, I don't mind.
Before my husband and I got married, we would talk on the phone for several hours straight, so I had to go while I was on the phone, or I didn't get to go. So I got used to it. I got used to doing it with my sisters when I was pregnant and using the bathroom every 20-30 minutes anyway, so I wouldn't have to keep getting off the phone to go.

Ha, now that is a funny one. I think that as long as you are clean about it, there should be no problems. There are times when I have not had a choice. You don't need to let the person know what you are doing. I have found that they wont know unless you teel them or flesh the toilet in their ears.

I agree with you whole-heartedly! There are just some things that are private. My hubby does this all the time, it doesn't matter if he is at home or work and it drives me crazy. I am seeing this happening more and more when I use public restrooms too! Icky!

Very rarely. usually only when my husband is on the phone since he is, after all, just my husband. Now and then I will when talking to my best friend or sister but I announce it clearly so they know and they either laugh (my friend) or pretend they're disgusted (my sister).
Otherwise, nah. I ask if I can call them back or just wait until the conversation is over.

I think my mom might be offended. I think she's one of the reasons I'm embarrassed by it. She has a funny view on whats gross and whats not.
