Can your dog do any tricks? If so what are they? My 12 week old cocker spaniel can sit, speak, and beg. We have been trying to work with her. How did you go about training your dog?

Gday
I have three dogs all are highly trained and i plan to start trialing them soon I use positive reinforcement i use food rewards and toys to teach them. I spend about 15 to twenty mins each day training them. If your dog already knows sit then it easy to teach it to lay down wait or stay which ever word you want to use.
To teach it to lay down first get it to sit then hold a piece of food in front of it nose then move it slowly down to inbetween it front legs then slowly away from it along the ground and it will drop to the lying postion on the ground as soon as this happens say yes and either give it the food or lots of praise food works well to begin with but dont use it every time otherwise the dog will learn only to do it when it get a food reward
You need to always use the same word every time and a puppy only has an attention span of about 3-6 secs this gets longer as the dogs gets older So try to keep the sessions short but frequent.
Hope that is a good start for you if i can help futher let me know
Just remember keep it fun for you and the dog
and keep at it
