Maybe it is because historically the Welsh have had red hair and the English have been at odds with the Welsh for centuries.
Just a guess.

You may be right on that. My father's family descended from Wales, and many of them have red or brown hair. I do not see why the English would hate the Welch. The Welch are very beautiful and bright people.

Ancient differences in political realms. Old cultures holding on to old struggles.

I get that as well. There are people who love redheads and people who hate redheads. At my college, everyone loves redheads, but in my own neighborhood, people are divided on the subject.

That is a bit strange since most redheads originated in that part of the world. My mother, grandmother and brother are/were all redheads and my natural hair is a light brown with red highlights so I'm used to seeing redheads arounds. It's become a very popular color here in the US lately.

I agree with you, that is why I cannot understand this? There are some people in my family who are redheads, and like I said, my friends and I all colored our hair red, so we do not know why there is so much hate with redheads? I think being a redhead is awesome.

Whoever told you this is talking rubbish. I am English and live in the north of england. I have 3 daughters 2 of them are redheads. My youngest is always getting stopped because people are telling her how beautiful her hair is. English people have no problems with redheads.

Maybe things have changed there then? Maybe what I have heard is old news?

i would not agree with that. red hairs are common in that part of the world. there are a lot of people from different places from the world staying in my home town (mostly tourism) and a lot of them are British and a lot of them were red haired. My former English teacher who is from London is red hair.

I hear what you are saying. A lot of my mother's family and father's family have red hair, and many of my ancestors are from the United Kingdom, so that is why I do not understand why people would say this about redheads? Again, like I have said before, I read comic books and I watch a lot of films and television and you would think that people adore redheads from the way they are depicted on them. Redheads are always beautiful and so full of life.

I know as I hard in the news few days back. You cant tell british hates it, there are some protion of the mass people who does not like this and also laugh at the red hair British. Like Prince Harry has red hair and his friends laugh at him. There are several example where british people has read hairs and are being harrassed by other British. few days back a lady sued her boss for harrassing her.

I didn't even know that. It made me think of the Spice Girls though and Ginger Spice and how she had red hair, but then they were from England which is technically different from Britain.

I have heard it a lot, and I know about Ginger Spice and Prince Harry, both are redheads, and to think that people get on their case about it seems ridiculous to me.

I'm from england, and i can't say that i've noticed any real predjudice on hair colour. When i lived in scotland though my brother was at that time a red head, he got bullied relentlessly ( the scots are often portrayed as red heads ) he got called all sorts of names. I think if people want to be unkind they'll chose the most obvious thing, in this case the hair colour.

That's rubbish. I have a friend who is affectionately known as ginger Nic (she has the most amazing hair!). My dad's entire family are ginger (he has 9 brothers and sisters), my nephew is ginger... no one hates them because of their hair colour.
Whoever told you that all Brits hate gingers is talking rubbish.

Well, I am also hearing it from a lot from many of the people online. Honestly, redheads are just like everyone else. Now, I am not a real redhead, my hair is colored red, but people where I live love my red hair, but I heard that in some places, England I heard was one of those places, I heard that red heads were not loved too much, and I guess that things there have changed a lot since I last posted this.

lol, you say that like you out and out believe me. Seems an odd thing to say though; oh yeah, all people in Britain hate gingers...
I bet your hair looks awesome!

My best friend is british and as far as I know he likes redheads... I dunno about the rest of the UK though. I know for one thing... being a redhead in a public school in the USA (or at least more specifically, Texas) REALLY SUCKS. I was treated so terribly, bullied, teased, harassed, threatened... that I ended up dropping out of highschool (but, that was years ago... I've since gotten GED). Not just due to the red hair but it seemed to be a big part of it. ... Then I find out later on in life that many adults love and envy red hair... heh... go figure. I think a lot of it is jealousy. I love my hair... and naturally everyone else should too! hahaha j/k =p We natural redheads are lucky and so rare...

Well, I know that in the USA, some people love redheads and some people hate redheads, but now with all of the redheads you see in the media, you would wonder how anyone can hate redheads? My real hair color is light brown, sort of dirty blonde, and I colored my hair red because I love it so much. At heart, I am a redhead. I love people who have red hair, I envy you people. Red hair is so hard to find and when you have it, you should be grateful for having it.
