A lot of us Zambians subscribe to Multichoice a pay-tv provider for the sole purpose of watching the English Premiership games. This season 2007/08, we are told the tv provider has failed to acquire adequate rights to air more English Premier League matches to its clients without considering reduction in subscription fees. Its a big blow to us their loyal clients and has brought a lot of misery among soccer loving Zambians especially in my household. Each one of us in my household has a team/s they support and it brings happiness in the home. I must admit here that the English Premier League is the most watched, most competitive and exciting soccer league in the world.
We are very disappoited with the service provider because we feel it has not done much research to find out which programmes their clients enjoy. Its depressing to see that clients in South Africa are able to watch the games when the rest of Africa is cut off. We pay more of less the same fees as the South Africans. Why hasn't the the pay tv provider used the same bidding tactics used for South Africa for the rest of Africa?
What's the mood about this denial in the rest of Africa?
