Hey my mylot fam, heres a quesion directed at ALL. What do you do for a living and do you like your job/Career? I am executive assistant to the president of a large non-profit organization that helps fight poverty but I am a graphic designer at heart working towards finishing my degree in graphic design. I enjoy my day job because it gives me the opportunity to help those in need and my career (graphic design) allows me to show my creative side off when making posters, flyers, brocures, business cards, etc.

I am a one legged tap dancer, just like my dad was........... Just kidding I am actually a music producer. Not famous or anything, but I have produced two full length albums and several tracks for local acts where I live. My company has showcased artists and I am also an artist and have performed on stage and radio. I love making music and plan on doing so until I die. http://www.myspace.com/fammusicinc http://www.showcaseyourmusic.com/fammusicinc

haha shamsta- you sound like me - a jack of most trades. I too hold many job titles as well. I actually own my own LLC and do a number of things underneath that such as cleaning newly built homes and getting them ready for buyers, catering events, graphic design, personal assistant- I guess you can say you and I are much alike- true entrepreneaurs!

Interesting topic! I work from home as a tutor and community moderator. I like my jobs because I get to work in PJs if i wish, lol. Seriously, I like tutoring because I enjoy helping students of all ages better understand their coursework. I enjoy working as a moderator because I enjoy chatting and sharing online, and cannot stand it when people deliberately set out to cause disruptions. Disagreements are fine, but personal attacks are not. Sherrie

Working in your PJ's is ALWAYS a plus :) I get to do that every now that then when I call in and tell them I'm going to work from home that day. Does being a moderator pay??

It depends on which company you work for. There are some that hire moderators on a contract basis and they generally make more. The last job post I saw for a home-based moderator offered $15 an hour. I just received some good news regarding my tutoring job - I'm getting a raise and direct deposit will be a payment option starting in December! Sweet!

I'm a writer, mostly. I write for a disability website and just got a job compiling and writing the newsletter for a people of color with disabilities non-profit organization. I used to have a third jobs writing the leadership section for a website for women with physical disabilities and speech impairments, but that job ran out of money. I also sometimes get paid for public speaking or selling my own self-published poetry books. All and all, I'm pretty happy with my job. I'm not so rich, but that's better than doing something that I dislike even if I would make less money.

Being rich is all in the eye of the beholder- you do something you like- so you are rich in a sense- maybe not monitarily- but you are fullfilled with what you do- and most are not- you are ahead of most already :)

I am a Buyer of a japanese medical equipment manufacturer. I can't call it a career because I don't enjoy the job, I'm really in it for the steady income. They don't pay exceptionally well, I've not learned much over the last 4 years. Changing employment has cross my mind much of the time and I've been through many interviews but were not successful to get a new job till now. I think it is what I'm doing now, or the lack of valuable work experience that has cost my market value to deplete!

I'm sorry to hear that you don't enjoy your job- I have had plenty of jobs like that and let me tell you that its much more stressful doing something you dislike everyday then doing something you do like and choose to do.

To me graphic design goes hand in hand with performing arts- both take a level of creativity- I say go for it- find a local play to participate in in your own free time- you may find that you like it more than you thought :)

I am a temporary administration staff in National University of Singapore. I just got the job yesterday and tomorrow will be my third day at work. Currently the job load is manageable and the pace is pretty ok for me. I do not feel very stress and my pay out is pretty ok for a temporary job however, the job is pretty mundane but I guess its better compared to a stressful job that I'll require to pull my hair to finish them, hehe.I will begin my bachelor studies early next year and I believe my expectations will change after I graduate from my bachelor studies. I will go for higher profile jobs and will like to take up challenges for higher responsibilites, promotions and pay rise =)

I'm currently employed as Market Development Specialist for International Promotions of a business-support organization in the Philippines which allows me to earn some income. But I do some part time writing and blogging for additional income. That way I can live up to my career path and at the same time earning and enjoying my hobby -- writing.

I am a laboratory analyst at a manufacturing entity. Although I have learnt to like my job my heart lies in working for the betterment of the underprivileged, especially children. Unfortunately such opportunities are scarce in my home country.

If the opportunities to work with underprivileged children are scarce in your country- that must be a good thing- The county that I live in has a poverty rate of about 22%- which is awful! The entire United States poverty rate is 12.6% for 2005- which hadn't changed much since 2004.

Hey I am administrative assistant to a lawyer and I love my job. At this moment I am currently reading one of her books in her library. I learn a lot and I feel good when a case is completed and I mark it "Closed" knowing tha I had an active part to play in our department. Will be going to study paralegal anyway.

Well, my current position was offered to me by the CEO himself because he knew me from attending and taking minutes at the board meetings of a previous job. I really didn't have the experience to be his assistant- but he liked my work ethic and my motivation so he offered me 3 times my salary at the time to take the job. I have learned alot along the way- both self taught and taking classes here and there. The biggest asset I find that people want is that I have taught myself to create databases to contain important company information and I have learned how to research- and then present that research. Keep trying to get in the actual field you want to be in- someone out there is bound to give you a chance.

what kind of background do you have for that position. I have a bachelor degree in criminology and am trying to swith from the physical side of the profession and go into paralegal or legal secretary. It's hard because a lot of places want you to have experience, but my question is how do you get the experience if nobody will hire you to begin with?

I'm doing the overseas business.I just graduated from my university and got this position I satisfied with very much. Daily, I contact with my foreign customers by e-mail, phones. And both of us will visit the other's countries several times a year. All the freight is free. But I'm not lucky enough this year. Our european customers and American customers are planing to visit my company this year. I have no chance to go out at present. But my boss always promise I will get my chance.
