I'm not too much into earlier metal. I do like some 70's Priest and such, but mot of my music from the 70's is progressive rock, which with the exception of a few bands like Rush, never were relatively heavy at all.

I like a lot of 80s thrash and a lot of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal stuff. Those years were probably the best that metal ever was and probably ever will be, must've been a fun time to grow up in.

I like to listent to old school rock and all of the 80s bands that use to rule the radio stations. I absolutely love Meatloaf. My first encounter with his music was when I was about 9 years old. Of course, that was a long time ago, but he has always been one of my family's favorites! :) I think the old school music, regardless of the genre is definitely the good stuff that is missed in today's music industry, though many kids from this generation are taking a liking to much of the old school music. It definitely is a little different than the music now a days. Back then it is as though they were truly singing from their heart and soul, not just to make the next quick buck.

I really wish I could've been around in the '80s when the San Fransisco Bay Area thrash metal scene got started. I only recently started really listening to Judas Priest since I got their Painkiller album (ok, so it came out in 1990, but I've got some older stuff now as well). Of course I was already familiar with songs like Breaking the Law and Hellbent for Leather, and the rest of their material is great too. I still haven't listened to any Meatloaf, but I've heard good things. I saw an album cover once that was insane. I know you can't judge a book (or album) by it's cover, but a nice album cover really grabs you and wants to make you hear what's inside.

I'm totally into 80s hair bands and old school metal. I'm so into Meatloaf it's ridiculous. My mom and dad got me into metal and Southern Rock when I was really little. I knew the words to 'Smoking in the Boys Room' and Talk Dirty To Me' by heart when I was three years old. I don't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing.:P It's funny how people want to make fun of this kind of music, but it's still around and has just as many followers my age as it did when it was first popular. It's a genre of music that will endure time.

I've been a Meat Loaf addict since I'm ten years old. I also like Judas Priest, but I always had the feeling that they try to make another Pain Killer ever since the album appeared. Though a friend of mine told me, that the recent album is very, very different, nearly progressive for their standards. I'm really looking forward to listening to it. I also like Saxon. But generally I'm more the melodic/slightly-progressive type.

Dude, I grew up on this stuff and, I think, without it there wouldnt have been the bands we have today. NWOBHM spawned a whole new generation of music and bands. I think I was about 9 or 10 when my folks bought me three tapes by motorhead, raninbow and Iron Maiden and the rest is history.
