Chain Letters -FAKE or REAL

For the past 2 years I have been receiving email chain letters that says do not break the chain you have to forward to 10 people or else something bad is going to happen to you. The lastest I have read was today when I was viewing information on an actor on a fan website. It stated that if you read this message then you have to go into 10 celebrities fan websites and post this message 10 times or you will die in two days. I thought it was ridiculous, please tell me your opinions or experiences with chain letters.
