Bad bananas

How bad would a banana have to be before you would absolutely refuse to eat it? Would you throw out a slightly bruised banana that had brown spots? Do you think that bananas with brown spots are actually unhealthy? For me, it's all about taste. I don't mind a slightly more ripe banana, but I can't stand the banana bruises. They just don't taste good. And, they taste terrible in banana pudding and banana sandwiches. And, being so cheap, I guess that I feel I really shouldn't have to eat a bad banana. That's my opinion on the matter, what's yours?

I don't mind a few bruised bananas and I do love them on my toast. My mom would use them to make banana cake and or muffins but I really can't be bothered. I try not to let them get to that state, but when they do, in the bin it goes :( what a waste. I only buy one bunch at a time now.

Oh, I had never thought to put them in muffins or cake. We love bananas too and they're really healthy. Especially with all the potasium and that's good for keeping blood pressure levels normal. Perhaps I will try them in some more recipes than just banana pudding. Thanks for the idea!

Do you mean brown spots on the skin or on the banana itself? If it is the former, we used to make banana bread with walnuts. I don't want to tell you how much banana bread I had when young. Just look for banana recipes. If it is on the banana itself, I would throw it away. Your health matters.

Hm.. interresting discussion :-) How bad a banana have to be? I do not like bananas, when (after "shaving" cover) the banana is brown and "supersweet" (you know what I mean) :-D Ble.. :-D But I do not like much fresch bananas too, when it is green and sour.. I like normal (a little more) yellow bananas :-D But.. sometimes you can not choose other, than green or brown banana at the mall eg. :-D But Bananas from TESCO are good almost always :-D :-D
