Do you agree with the death penalty?

Can the death penalty ever be justified? Personally, I don't think so. I have thought about it for a very long time, and my conclusion is that it is wrong to take a life period. I am sure many of you will disagree with me,but I would like to get other opinions and reasons for thinking as you do.
