Many of you know that Lance is the name of my daughter's new camera. I am sorry to report Lance has suffered an accident. Yes, he got dropped or bounced or bopped. My daughter cried and was depressed for a few days.
Lance's injury was to his ability to auto-focus. He would manual focus but got a huge cramped when he tried to do an auto-focus. It looked serious. We thought we might have to send Lance to the shop for repairs.
My hubby took Lance apart and did surgery on the dining table. The gears were jammed. After surgery, Lance was put back together. Now he works beautifully again.
What is this extra screw? Ok, Lance is now missing a screw but he probably did not need that one anyways. LOL
Have you ever had an accident with an expensive camera?? How did it affect you emotionally??

I agree. I think this extra screw is not totally essential to the operation of the camera. But I kept it just in case I am wrong.

Well me and Lance have something in common, a missing screw. :oD
I had one camera and I can't remember what it was but it was made by concord. I loved it and it worked great, took wonderful pics and awesome videos as well. Sadly one day I went to take a pic and as it started to focus we could hear gears rubbing then it shut off never to come back on again. Well since it was under warranty I sent it back to concord. 3 months later they sent me a new camera and supposably a step up from the one I had. Well it takes good pics, but it has no sound card in it so the videos make silent movies! I was so upset, but the camera I had, concord stopped making and that was the best they had at the time. Never again will I by from them.

If the camera they sent you was a step up, then it should have been better than your old one. This just does not seem fair. I would have complained a lot. I do think the brand of camera can make a difference also. It is one of the few things that I have that belief.

We kept the screw. If he starts to malfunction, we will have to see if that screw has to be replaced or not.

Awwww....poor Lance! He's had to undergo surgery already! At least he's all better now. Although I'm a bit worried about that extra screw myself. LOL So far, I haven't had any mishaps with my camera. And hopefully I won't either. I just have to keep teenage fingers away from it.

This accident happened in mid-July. I was worried about that loose screw also. Lance has recovered nicely. His auto-focus is functioning very well. He is on Mackinac Island this week with the Girl Scouts. I am sure he is enjoying his trip away from home.
