Associated Content, and Gather--what kind of articles are they looking for?

What kind of pieces do Associated Content and Gather accept?
I'm something of a social sciences nut, and I wonder if there'd be any need for psychological exploration on any of these sites. From your experiences, what kind of material do they accept, do they refuse, what's there an abundance of, a shortage of, etc. Please fill me in.
Thank you,
David A. Reedy...

both sites will take whatever you want to give them. If you want to get PAID that's another matter.
gather will take just about anything, and you get points for participating in a bunch of ways, submitting, leaving comments, posting photos, etc. I don't know if they pay directly, I just noticed I get points.
AC can refuse your content for payment. They look for articles that will generate traffic. So it needs to be something of interest to someone, somewhere. I've done reviews, and usually get things posted. They also have monthly deals where they are looking for specific articles. I am sure you could make some money there with your ideas. however, they are not really going to pay for personal experiences. They want data, not articles on how something made you feel, or how you perceive something. I have had to rewrite a few articles regarding reviewing a restaurant and put it in more general terms, instead of "I thought" Just a tip...

Have you been to the sites yet? I am looking at Associated Content in another window right now.
It looks like they take all kinds of articles, including opinion and humor. You should be able to write something that they would be interested in. Good luck.
I haven't looked at Gather yet, but I've heard that they aren't nearly as well know as Associated Content.

I am not a member of associated content, so I can't answer that part of your question, but I am extremely active on Gather. I've seen articles about everything from day to day blogging, to serious pieces written by Harvard Professors. It's all in the tags, when it comes to finding what you want. Articles can also be posted to grups, but tags are what sorts the day-to-day articles.

I love Gather, too. I think there is a very high level of writing there (sometimes even more so than Associated Content). As mentioned by someone else, there is a Harvard medical team which writes health articles, there are many published authors on the site, they focus on politics in a serious way. The site has a lot going for it, in my opinion. They pay in points. You get points for posting articles, photos, and now videos. You also get points for joining groups and commenting on other people's articles. These points can then be redeemed for gift cards for places like Borders and Home Depot. Once you earn 3,000 points per month, you can switch over to a cash option, getting paid in cash vs. points. I read a lot, so I am happy with the Borders cards. I think your interests would fit well with Gather, and I encourage you to join.

Thanks for the response. Does Gather pay? If they do, how well, and in what terms?
