What would you do if you found a £20 note lying on the ground?

My 7 year old son found a £20 note in the car park of a service station last weekend. A car had been parked at that spot a moment earlier but had driven off and that's when he saw the money. We picked it up and kept it. I felt really bad about it, thinking it's someone's hard earned money but my son pointed out that if we didn't pick it up, one of the 50 or so people milling around would have! Would you have picked it up? If not, why not? By the way, I gave extra to charity this week because I felt guilty!

Invest the twenty in something worthwhile and double the money... then make a valiant effort to find the person who lost the original money and give it back to them, with a little interest added.
I think of such "finds" as a chance to make something good happen for everyone involved, but that's just me.
