This is so unfair, anyone heard anything similiar?

Well, I haven't gone to this school, but it happened in the same country as I live in. (Sweden).
There was going to be a school ball, which is "tradition" for all 9th-graders (in most schools.) But there was a guy who wasn't allowed to go, the reason was that he had Aspergers Syndrome. The principal "ordered" it.
Now, as many of you who have Aspergers or have a relative that has it, in 99.9% of all cases that person is "sane" enough (very bad expression, I know, but I don't know how I should put it.) to go on a ball, OR do anything else (If that person wants to, you can't blame him/her if he/she doesn't want to go because they don't like being in crowds or anything else per se -).
This caused a pretty big uprage in the newspapers, even though SEVERAL people misunderstands Aspergers (Think it's as bad as the magazines put it).
Anyone read anything else like this, or maybe been in a situation like this? Please tell, I would be glad to hear.
