Recently, there have been a few cases of accounts being hijacked on an online RPG game I play. The developers didn't get to a conclusion yet, but many people think it's not a fault on the security system of the game, but a lack of cautious behavior of the users. I'm posting here the security measures that are being discussed on the game's forum:
. Choose really difficult passwords that could never be guessed by anyone. Use a mix of letters, numbers and symbols.
. Do not use your myLot password for anything else. The best thing to do is to have a different login/password for each site you sing up.
. Do not use your free e-mail address for myLot. If it's the only option for you, get another e-mail address just for registering to sites/games. Don't share this one with anyone else.
. If you are using Hotmail + MSN, or Yahoo + Yahoo Messenger, do not use those e-mail addresses in myLot also. Get a new one, so if your messenger gets hacked in someway, you can keep your account safe.
. Install a really good virus scanner with the ability to find trojans and backdoor programs. If possible, buy it. Keep it updated.
. Do not save your passwords in your browsers. Do not keep a text file, excel spreadsheet or anything in your computer. If you are not good at remembering passwords, write it to your diary or something like that.
. In public places (like net cafes), be sure to logout of the system. If the operating system gives you permission to access to the browser properties, clear cookies and cache files.
. Wireless connections are open to sniffers. If it is not urgent, do not to login if the site does not have a secure connection.
. Do not install any software you do not know of.
. Do not use free proxies.
These tips were not written by me. I only adapted them. I've never heard about a case like that here on myLot, but I think it's better for us to take care, always.
Please, share anything else you know, or any bad experiences you had with accounts/passwords before.
Thank you!

Thanks for your detail information, which will be very helpful and handy. Though I haven’t experienced such yet, I know it is about time to aware of it and start preventing it. Prevention will minimise the loss and have trouble free.
