I want to get tatoos over my chakras. OVer communication chakra I want to get the japanese symbol for compassion, I'd wanted truth but then decided that would work well over the heart chakra. I used to want a butterfly as they symbolize transformation but the butterfly has been so over done! I like asian dragons as they symbolize strength and mystery. What about you?

I have five tattoos so far:
1) an ankh on my lower back, left hand side
2) the Chinese characters for "serenity" on my lower back, right hand side
3) an Eye of Horus on my lower back, above the ankh
4 & 5) the Norse runes "dagaz" and "wunjo" on my chest, near my shoulders. (They mean "dawn" and "joy," and also roughly correspond to my initials.)
I'm planning to get my chest piece finished over Christmas, and eventually start on a full upper back piece that extends into two half sleeves, as well as getting a lot of tattoos on my legs. Mostly, though, I need to figure out a way to start saving for all of that! :)

Nice. Sounds like you like tatoos for similiar reasons as I do. I love Ankhs and used to have an Eye of Horus...I also want to have some kind of longevity symbol, haven't decided which one yet.

Yeah, I decided that I wanted the ankh about 10 years before I actually got it, and I ended up getting it as my 30th birthday present to myself, as a reminder that life doesn't have to end at 30. I thought it was a nice sentiment and a nice way to remember a birthday that I had been dreading. :)

I have one tattoo, the design of a celtic cross necklace that my grandmother gave to me before she passed away.
I got it done (by my father who is a tattooist) on my sternum, with purple 'jewels' where they used to be in the actual necklace, as purple was our favourite colour.
I have many more tattoos that I plan on getting, symbols of my life, my own strength and courage and ability to overcome certain things.
I very much like your idea for the chakras and the symbolism, although I'm not that into Japanese symbols personally, as they, like the butterfly have unfortunately become over-used.

That's true, I guess it would make more sense to get chinese lettering anyway, as my son is chinese. Even though they're a bit over done - I just love chinese and japanese konji. I love that you want to have tatoos that are symbols - a telling of your life in a way.

I like tattoo, the tribal one to be put at my back neck, or at my arm, but i doesn't like the real tattoo. I just like the sticker tattoo so i can still erase whenever i want too. Having permanent tattoo might refrain a person being a blood donor, and so i don't want to have one so i might be a blood donor in case there are some who are in need.

I have one tattoo in the small of my back. I have a pink playboy bunny. I got it because I am not shy about my sexuality and I feel that it symbolizes that. I am very outspoken when it comes to sexuality and my husband seems to like it, so... I am getting a dragon tattoo when I go back and I am gonna have the bunny intertwined in it. Another reason that I got this tat is because I love the Girls Next Door, Holly Madison inparticular and she has a bunny in the small of her back also.
