Arsenal kick off their Champions League campaign with a victory!
Although they were not at their best, the victory is nonetheless greatly welcomed, this will help calm nerves when Sparta Prague come over to play at the Emirates.
Goals from Fabregas (yes Fabregas would you believe!!) and Hleb secured the victory.
It wasn't an easy match, with much of the first half Arsenal were on the backfoot and looking vulnerable to conceding a goal, Jan Rezek almost put Sparta ahead with just 9minutes on the clock but Arsenal were saved by the woodwork.
Arsenal's only real attempts on goal in the first half were by Fabregas & a free-kick by Van Persie, niether troubled the keeper.
In the 2nd half Arsenal started off better, they didnt alays threaten but there was hope, and with 72 minutes on the clocks, Gael Clichy's run set of Fabregas who sweetly slotted it into the back of the net.
The second goal came from Hleb, Arsenal countered in the final minute with Sagna bursting through on the left side before passing it to Hleb, Helb although did not hit is sweetly, it still had enough pace to reach the net.
All in all, it was a deserved victory and when Sparta Prague come over to the Emirates Arsenal should wrap up the match comfortably.
I was surpised that neither Bendtner nor Walcott were given runs, it would have been good for them to gain some European experience.
