Do you get really excited when your spouse gets a promotion?

My husband just got a promotion, and I think I might be more excited about it then he is. He keeps acting like it's not a big deal, because several people got it, but I think it is. He thinks I'm more excited about it then he is. The main reason that I'm so excited about it is probably because it was the first time he took the test. As far as he knows, he's the only one from our his flight that got it this time, that hadn't tested before. There might be one other guy. I can't help but feel really proud of him. He did really well on his test. The way that these tests works, is you get so many points for each year you have been either in the service, or in your current pay grade (I'm not sure which). They count toward your total, so a person that has been in longer, and has taken the test before, doesn't have to do so well to get the next rank. There is one guy in his flight that has been a SrA since before my husband got here (Aug 2004), that still hasn't made Staff Sergeant (the rank my husband just got). My husband hasn't even been in the service for 4 years yet, and he made it! It's not something that is unheard of, but it's not something that happens all the time either. Do you ever feel like you are more proud of your spouse's accomplishments than they are? Do you feel as proud of them, as you would if YOU were the one receiving the promotion?

i feel the same way,my husband has been at his job for 10 years now and he just got a raise last week.he came home and told me and i was so exicited for him,and he just acted like ok so what i got a raise.but me i get like a little kid in the candy store,i get so happy for him, because he does his job very well and deserves everything he has put into his company and sometimes i feel he deserves a heck of alot more.buy i guess we cant be greedy lol.but to me no matter what the raise is every little penny helps, especially with a family and kids, and the way we go through stuff so fast in our house holds today.like diapers lol.very good post, nice writing.

The raises are definitely nice, but my husband doesn't get his until next summer. So he has almost a full year of performing Staff Sergeant duties, but getting paid as a Senior Airman. But I'm not complaining. I'm still really proud of him. He's been in the Air Force for less than 4 years, so he is moving along at a nice pace.

I really pride of my sons' promotion in his firm . Really he fits and deserves for the post he got, his hard work he earned this. But this promotion makes our lifestyle something changing due to be dignified because of financial sudden spendings. Eventhough this is normal for everyone for ours it is sudden surprise and fears also.
