Financial freedom is wonderful I can honestly say I have it but in a very modest way, my parents never believed in renting so when I was ready to leave home they convinced me to put my small savings on a deposit of a flat so I did then I worked my butt off to pay it off quickly, I worked double shifts and went without a lot but I paid my flat off and upgraded and then worked hard again to pay that off, I stayed a long time in the same job until I was made redundant because of the technology change, so thank heavens I owned my own house, I am just plodding along but I have that financial freedom and it is wonderful..

The method to financial freedom could be one of these:
1. Save in a judicious mix of stocks (or equity mutual funds) and debt (or debt based mutual funds) for an inflation beating return.
2. Invest in real estate - read about that in Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.
3. Start a MLM and disappear when the growth peaks ... just kidding! But I think you get what I am trying to say - you need to save, and you need to make your savings work in order to attain financial freedom. That is the only way.

Financial freedom is something a lot of people don't have. I don't think I have ever had it! To me, financial freedom would be not having to think about what you spend. Knowing you have enough money in the bank to pay your bills without going into debt and still having plenty left for luxuries. I think it's hard to get that because even when people do have that kind of freedom, some still end up worse off in some ways because they get carried away, buying things they don't need and getting things on credit without thinking about the amount they might end up spending on paying back this credit.
It is very difficult to be without financial freedom but I don't think I would want to have so much that I'd get lost in it and pull myslef back into debt.
I also think there is a difference between financial freedom and financial independance. Personally, I have neither of these! Although I am working towards both. Financial freedom is as I have described above, having enough to be comfortable (it doesn't mean you have to be rich or anything, just having enough) whereas financial independence is being able to choose what you do with your own money and not have to rely on others for their support.

My concept of financial freedom is absolute relief from debts ..both individual and corporate . Once you are free from debts your finances are at your sole disposal and your free to spend the way you like it to be spent on essentials. This is basic financial freedom and that is what I dream of !
