Ok, I have to ask . . . does it annoy anyone else when somebody mispronounces a word? It happened today and it seems to be something that I can't seem to forget. I feel horrible and nit-picky about it but how is it possible to mispronounce Basil?

It depends on how they misspelled the word. Back during the Tsunami incident on Boxing Day, this news channel invited an expert to elaborate/explain the effects of the tsunami, what will happen, what can be expect, blah blah blah. And this expert (a female) pronounced "Tsunami" as "Sz-nami". Not only was I not pissed off or angry, in fact, I find it so funny that she used the word "disaster" to substitute the word "tsunami" instead. What a bummer, and I thought I could laugh a little longer at somebody's expense...

Basil, it is really easy to pronounce. don't feel about it, nobody's perfect. Try to correct that person in a nice way so that's now he/she can learned how to pronounce it correctly.
