Hi, i have a nuclear family and like it this ways only. There are both pros and cons on both the sides too, each ones have their good and bad points. Joint families have may people in it, so you have to adjust a lot with others, and take them into consideration for small things too, but it helps you out if you are working or have kids, as someone is always there to take caree of them, incase you both are working parents. Where as nuclear families are compact, closer knit, and you and just your family get all the attention, there is more love and attention with each other, but you dont have anyone else to fall back on incase you are working or have to go out etc, you seek your neighbours help i guess. So, it all depends as to what type of person you are and what your reqirements etc are.

Hi,lifeless,it is a interesting question.I would like to chose the nuclear family. If there are me,my husband and my daughter,we can make our plan easily. We can go whereever freely.Though nobody can help us do housrwork,we can go out for dinner. In nuclear family,we can keep our privacy greatly.

I am one of the lucky few who has seen both sides of the coin. I grew up in a nuclear family with both parents working. On top of that, I am a single child. You can imagine my loneliness in my growing years. However, I married into a joint family and have been living so for the past 10years. One thing I can say is that both has its pros and cons. Since I am a single child, I don’t know about those nuclear families with two kids. But I believe nuclear family gives you more opportunities to excel and develop yourself without having to share everything and that can be really beneficial and not selfish. It also gives you more space and more privacy. However, joint family prepares you better for the various shades of life. Once you start adjusting and compromising, you realize that life is not a bed of roses, nobody except your parents will tolerate and pamper you and give in to your tantrums. You also have your own people to care for your child and not have to depend on hired help. But if you have grown up in a nuclear family, its definitely difficult to marry into a joint family and it should best be avoided. I don’t know you case though, why suddenly the urge to be surrounded by interfering chacha-chachis, bua, bhaiyya, dada-dadi et al?

I am not complaining about me living in a nuclear family, its just that I have not been able to spend much time with all my relatives, they all live too far from us, and also they don't get much time to visit us so often and same is the case with us.. And now my elder brother also has started working and I have no one to share my thoughts with except my mother, coz dad leaves for office too early.. I had always wished that I had lived with my relatives (chacha-chachis, bua, bhaiyya, dada-dadi et al) so that I don't find a single instant to sit idle and think wht's going on with my life..
I agree to all that u said, but still I am eager to switch to a joint family as I love to have people around, don't like sitting just all by myself.. Hope u understand..
Do u knw why my username is like that???

I live in a joint family, and I wouldn't change it for the world. Always something to do.
