I became very hopeless when we finally received, after more than 4 years of waiting, the Decision of Court of Appeals on my close friend's case. It affirmed the lower court's decision in all aspect..."Reclusion Perpetua". That's means life imprisonment for my very good friend. Everything shattered. I cried a lot. We've been praying so much that the decision be reversed, but then, I feel that there is no more second chance for my friend. As far as we know, my friend was just trapped from unavoidable circumstances and that the sentence the court imposed upon him is too heavy for the "crime" he did.
Then one Sunday, I hear Mass, and the Gospel brought new hope for us. What deeply struck me most is the line, "I tell you that he will get up and give what his friend's want not because he is his friend, but because of his persistence." That very line in the Gospel that Sunday, inspire me not to give up. "Pray more, pray hard," as if that's what the Lord is telling me. Persevere in my prayer for my friend sake. With the crime my friend committed, probably, the good deed we offered for him... the prayers, novenas, other sacrifices... may not be sufficient enough to receive the kind of mercy we are begging from the Lord. Yet, we will go on praying.. more prayers until the Lord will soon give what we've been asking from HIM. As of today, my friend's case was elevated to the Supreme Court for final review and reconsideration. We may not know the time for its final judgment, but we know from our hearts, that in God's perfect time, things for my friend will be made beautiful.. in GOD's own time.
Probably, the Lord's answer for now to all our prayers, is not "NO", but "WAIT". And that's what we believe in.
May you please include in your prayer that the good Lord will soon grant my friend's "freedom".
