Do you own your cat or does s/he own you?

Do you ever feel that your cat controls you not the other way around? Also, I like to think of myself as my pets friend/caretaker but many think of themselves as owners - they own the pet just as they own their tv or cell phone...what do you think - do you own your pet or do you share your life with your pet? Is he just a furry person?

I think my cat def. owns me lol. But she doesn't try to, I do it to myself! She is my baby so I spoil her! =P lol. But she is a very sweet cat and doesn't act like she owns everything in the house.

Its easy to do - to spoil your pets. Now that my baby is here, I can't spoil them as much. And they look at me with wide eyes when I'm babying the baby. They do love him too though and always want to cuddle him.

Yeah I could be actually the one petting the cat but they are rubbing their heads on the baby and wanting to lay down next to where the baby is playing.

I think our cats own us. When we have to get up in the morning or at night, if the cat is laying on the bed blocking us, we debate whether or not it's realy necessary that we get up. LOL We only get up if it's an absolutely emergency, because we don't want to have to move the cats.

Difficult to answer. I will just have to consult with her laydship(Tipsy dipstick). SHE says she's in charge, and where's my food?

Do you call her by her full name? Or just Tipsy or just TD?

I think that's great. People like us wouldn't get rid of pets at the drop of a hat. There are those who realize they only wanted kittens or puppies and give up their pets to the shelter when they grow up. Or they give them to the shelter if they move to someplace that doesn't take pets. You wouldn't give away a family member would you?

My conversation when I come home from work or wherever I was: "Hey...how are you? how was your day? aww did you miss me? I missed you! I love you" It's always to my cat, because he's the only person I live with. I own my cat. For sure. He knows that I am the one in charge, he likes to try to be in charge but he knows that I will always win. He's like my little kid. I mean, sometimes I wonder if I have a kid, if I'll treat it as well as my cat. He's my life. He's what I look forward to seeing when I wake up, he's who i miss when I'm not with him and he's the last thing I want to see when I go to sleep. I mean, in a non gross obsessive way of course. I do have relationships with people. ha ha.

Sounds like me - I totally talk to them like the furry people they are. When worried about a sick cat in the past I actually once got a "Its just a cat." If a guy ever said that, you know it wouldn't work.

My friend and I have a fake "rules list" for guys. A guy who can hang is number one, but a guy who can understand and love our cats like we do is also pretty high up there. It's never "just" a cat. I'd say "well you're JUST a guy!"
