I am having a really big problem with my simese kitty cat. He does not seem to want to walk on the floor anymore. He gets around the house by jumping from one piece of furniture to another. The only time he contacts the floor at all is to get in the litter box and to eat the rest of the time he stays on higher ground. I have to place the furniture close enough together that he does not have to jump far because it u dont he slides and cleans everything of of the furniture that is on it. I find this very distructive and annoying to say the least. He has broken ornaments and upset drinks things like that. Does anyone have any idea why he is doing this all of a sudden or have your cats done something similar. How can i break him of this before he does even more damage? He is my baby but he is really trying my patients.

What sort of florring do you have ?... if it is tiles or boards maybe it is what you are washing your floors with, some floor cleaners are toxic and if that was the case maybe you have an extra clever cat to detect this, or if you have carpet mybe he is just not used to the feel of carpet on his paws or maybe something the carpet has been cleaned with or maybe he just thinks he is a monkey, I hope you find your answer...

Thanks for the advice you made me have a thought. My kitty is an indoor cat and we have to clip his nails because they get stuck in the carpet when he walks on it and i have neglected to get them cut lately and maybe he is tired of sticking to the floor like velcro. lol I believe i will cut his nails to see if it helps. Thanks for jarring my memory it might not be the cause but worth the chance and he needs a manicure anyways lol.

Oh my goodness, it could be a number of things. Siamese are very active anyway in their temperament. His age ??? He is probably becoming more active and teritorial, spayed or not ?, Boredom....These are all only suggestions, i hope it gets resolved soon.

I know I am 4 Days late on this and I am hoping you might have resolved the Problem
The only thing I can suggest to you is that if it is only a young one every time he jumps up on something take him of and put him on the Floor I know it sounds a Pain, the only other thing I can suggest is that you speak to the Vet about this

i know this is gonna sound nuts, but do you live in an area where earthquakes are an issue? i had a friend in california. she had a cat ... that did the exact same thing. even when they didn't feel anything ... just tiny tiny quakes that didn't even register... she found out that cats are very sensitive to this and she thought that perhaps he was 'feeling' these things and was freakin' out about being on the floor. doing a little research she found that this was rather comnon in areas that have seismic activity, whether it's registerable or not.
just a thought, nuts though it might be! i have no suggestions however as to what to do about your baby... just patience... lots of it! good luck!

I think I'd prefer that, my cat is insistent on sleeping and sitting on the boombox all day and all night. I think she's moved 4 times in the past 2 days.

believe it or not, it may just be an ongoing game for him. The best way would be to just put him on the floor every time you walk past him and then pet him a little bit before walking away.

have you used anything new to clean your carpet that he might not like?
