Elvis Presley, what if anything, did he mean to you?

So today is the anniversary of Elvis Presley's death. I know a lot of people were crazy about him, and there are still some who don't believe he is dead. I'm not one of them though. I think he is definitely not on earth any longer. He wasn't in my time, he was dead before I was born. But his influence is everywhere. Did he have any impact on you? My dad saw him in concert once. He thought it was silly, and I couldn't believe he had never told me that. To me it was cool, because he was an icon. He may not have influenced you, but did you go to Graceland? Have you followed Lisa Marie's life, his only child? Do you get a smile on your face when you hear one of his songs? What is your favorite Elvis song? I'd love to hear it all. : )

I like his early image.. what I saw as a kid were the black and white movies of a country guy, type movies.. and really that's what he was to begin with.. he sang gospel.. - He was my mom's idol. She finally got to see him I think at his last concert.. the one in the notorious white suit.. she didn't think he looked well.. but he was still Elvis! She even painted one or two portraits of him!

When he sings gospel, it's like he's been in church his whole life. He just has THAT much passion.

Tho i was never a big fan of elvis i cannot deny that he had a major impact on my life as well as on the evelution of music. Not can i deny that he was the king of rock'n roll. I dont think i ever had a record with elvis, still i can sing along to most of his songs. Favourite elvis song got to be An american triology. But in general i love when he sings gospel or blues.

That's a good point. I've never owned a record of his, but I know most of the words to a lot of his songs. It's amazing one person can have such a big impact.

He was the King of Rock n' Roll, without him, we would not have the music that we have today. Most all artist in this world were influenced in some way, shape, or form by Elvis.

Oh how i wish i was around when Elvis was younger, and hot!! LOL Even though he's been gone more years than i've been alive, i still love him! Ive watched alot of the old Elvis movies and stuff on him. At the end, he started singing gospel. He sung with JD Sumner and the Stamps some and also with someone else but i forgot who, i bet you'd know. As far as my favorite song goes, i like MANY of them, but i LOVE suspicious minds!!!

Other than knowing he is a singer, he does not mean anything to me. Personally, I do not know who he is nor how he looks like. I could have checked out the website if I am interested but I am not. I heard his name being mentioned by my colleagues when they were discussing about oldies.

What website are you speaking of? I'm sure there are many websites dedicated to him, but I've not been to any. It's so funny to me that when I see Elvis impersonators on TV, they aren't just white, but Asian, African, and even Samoan!
