I ordered somethings online and thought it would come all together but they sent it in two different packages. DHL was the carrier, when the driver showed up today, he handed me one of the packages and walked away. I tracked the other package and the driver had put in the computer that I wasn't home to accept the second package. Now what since does that make? When I contacted DHL about the matter, they told me that it would be delivered no later then eight o'clock tonight. When it wasn't here by that time I contacted them yet again, and I found out that they aren't going to deliver it until tomorrow. I wouldn't mind this but I payed for next day delivery. I also found out that this wasn't the first time that this driver had done this. I had to end up filing a formal complaint against the driver. I didn't like doing this but I felt something had to be done about it. Has this ever happened to any of you? Do you think that I did the right thing by filing a formal complaint?

I'm giving thumbs up to you because you were helping DHL management by your formal complaining....bravo!!!. If it happen to me I will take the same reactions yours.
Negligence of staffs' ethics on duty now, look like a common practice to many delivery services companies. I don't know why?

yes you did the right thing by filing a complaint. ive had a similar problem, but not with DHL. mine was with that shipping method where UPS delivers it to the main post office of your area and then the mail carrier delivers it to your house.
TWICE (!!) ive had the tracking say it was delivered on time and it not be true. once it was here the very next morning, and they lady said that the carrier probably forgot about the package until the shift was over and didnt want to come back to the house, but marked it as delivered so they wouldnt get in trouble or something.
the second time the post office found the package sitting in some far off corner, after telling me it would be delivered the next morning for 5 days!! 5 days! ooh i was SO mad on that one!
if i have the choice i never choose that shipping method..if its gonna be shipped i always want UPS, i have NEVER had a problem with them at all!

I have never had a problem with UPS either. From now on, I will be requesting UPS for all of my deliveries.

I agree that the driver probably just missed the second box when he delivered the first. Then at the end of the run, didn't know that he'd delivered another one to you already and just marked that you weren't home. Could have been just an oversight, but I'd still expect them to deliver it ASAP. Formal complaint will hopefully get the driver at least a good talking to though. Good luck!
