I have been staying in Mumbai India in a rented house since the time I moved into this city i.e. two years ago.
I am planning to buy a house for myself in the beginning of the next year.
This question is just out of my curiosity to know how many of mylotters stay in rented house?

Same here, we own our house. I've been here for the last 15years too. Here in my city, most people own the houses or are renting to own.
I think it's only good to rent if you're not really from the place or you have plans of leaving, but if your roots are really from here, there's no place like home. A good place to be when you're older to because there's a sense of 'belonging' or 'property'.

We own our house - or rather we own it together with the bank until the mortgage is all payed up which won't happen until 2009 LOL
Before we bought our house we rented an apartment that I actually miss a lot because it was affordable nice and any problem that happened was taken care by the landlord, they even discounted $100 from my rent once when we were away for the weekend and an electricity problem in the building disconnected my fridge. THey discounted the money for the groceries that I might have lost.
Still I enjoy owning the house it's just that I have more responsibilities here

I have been staying in rented house for over three years now. Recently joined a housing society to have a house of my own here. With the upswing and high real estate values in city makes it almost impossible to buy a flat with my single income.

Hello ranjeet!
We never own a house ever since I was born. We keep on renting and now we are living here in the rented house for 12 years already. The owner will renovate the house this October that's why we need to move out. Until now we are still looking for a house. I'm kind of happy about this moving out thing because I feel that the family needs a new start and a new environment.
Hope we can find a nice house that's not so expensive.(",)
Great day and God bless!

I stay with my cousin sister in Thane from last 2 years. I have dream to have my own house in Mumbai or near by suburbs. But, as I am the only financial support of my family, I think it will take few more years to save enough money. I have a target to achieve this dream. I will my own house when I will reach 25 years of age. Let's see.

Since I am working away from home I am just renting just near the office. I have been renting this apartment for almost 7 years and I like it here so much coz I just walk it to the office and I dont have to worry about anything like fare traffics and a lot of road hassles. I can just go to the office 15 mintues before the time and its stress free.

We are buying ours through a rent to own program. I am not sure that I am settled here as it is smaller than what I really want, but I guess we are here for awhile.
I can't imagine living here for 15 years though.

I own a home too... just like our mylotter said, Nothing like home. I used to rent a home but the rent is freaking stealing .... but now I own a home is also hard too cuz we have to responsible for everything and pay a lot also but it is good in the long run.
