You seem to be a very interesting person, Artemis, funnily enough, we were just discussing this sort of issue in your other post.
Yes, the discussions that I've started so far on myLot, although I'm not happy with them, are definitely things that I would talk about in real-life conversation.
I have to make sure that I'm interested in what I respond to or create as well, or there's not much point.
Good ol' Seinfeld =D
In some ways its better online, or in text, because every body has time to say what they want without someone talking over them, and you can 'edit' or 'fix' what you say, which isn't always possible in person.
I suppose you have to be more coherent in your written conversations, so that there aren't misunderstandings, as we don't have facial expression, tone, body language etc when we're on here...
Mal.

True there is so much more to conversations then mere words. Okay, Mal, pregnancy and baby rearing leads to early Alzeimers so if that's supposed to a than not then - no I think I'm right!
I like interacting thru words better though because it feels more natural, its my favourite form of communication - for the reasons your express so well and because my hands are a much quicker translator of my thoughts then my voice. And my wording is more genuine, with talking I have to edit a bit because it wouldn't sound right to convey things the way I do in writing. It would seem stilted or something.
Plus I have fresh victims to try out all my million trillion questions on!

Victims?!
Hardly, I mean we are getting paid for it =P
But really, I think your topics are great, they give us all something to do =D
I feel the same sometimes about verbalising my thoughts making them sound stilted or something of that nature.. Sometimes I find it very difficult to speak colloquially, because I just love the sound of poetic, sophisticated language.
It flows so much more easily and, to me, sounds a lot more pleasant.
Artemis, I strongly recommend some Alzheimer's medication, as I assure you it is a 'than' and not a 'then'.
Although if you hadn't pointed it out, I may well not have noticed.
Which reminds me of something I read once, a few years back, about how more competent readers are less likely to pick up on a typo/misspelled word than someone less competent, as we tend to skim read, whereas they will look at and try to comprehend each word.
I found that quite interesting, and so far I've certainly found it to be true.
Of course most of the time I'm looking for errors.. just for fun =P

Oh my gosh, I was just finishing up Massage Therapy schooling when I got pregnant. Thank goodness. You see, I had a high grade point average - I'd been afraid my brain had atrophied in the years I'd been away from school, but really, it was just a bit dusty.
So, I was in clinic and we took a series of tests in there, mostly to practice for the Licensing Exam which is brutal. I took all but one the first week. Now Massage Therapy isn't all rub a dub dub, there's a lot of Anatomy and Physiology involved, as well as business and nutrition and chinese medicine and such.
Anyway, not sure why I overlooked that last test. I aced all those tests I took the first week.
The last? I had to take three times before I passed. I found out why too - I was pregnant of course. Having the baby does not to change the fact that my memory is sooooooo shot. Tonight is unusual, usually I go to sleep at aobut 8:00 but Robert still wakes up several times during the night - or wails in his sleep.
My migraines too, tend to burn away my memory and cognitive functioning after its passed the next day. I used to be such an ace at english grammar. Now half the time I spell it grammer!

My questions are definitely derived from my real life happenings and experiences. Whatever, I across in my real life, I start discussion, on those topics. For me, it is difficult to start discussion on imaginary topics, topics which are not connected with our real life.
