How to bring traffic to your website/blog?

Setting a website or blog is not a difficult task. The more difficut tasks are the content and traffic. Content can be easily updated but the difficult part will be on doing it consistency over a period of time. Sometimes, bloggers will find themselves out-of-topics to write on their blog.
However, what are the most effective methods or ways to generate traffic to your site. If you have a good content but with low traffic, definitely you will be disapointed. Can anyone share with me on the effective ways to bring more traffic to website or blog?

This is easier said than done, building traffic is a continuous ongoing project, it will not happen overnight, but if you have good content, or a internet tool or service that is of interest to visitors, in other words some type of link bait. Also if you are selling a product or service I would suggest you do PPC to bring in targeted traffic, if you dont have the budget for that I would suggest submitting your sites to directories, posting (not spamming)forums, blogs etc to build up your backlinks, use anchor links to target your keywords and increase your SERP, this is where your real traffic will come in, through SE.
