Do your dogs run free - or your neighbors - what do you think - is it fair for them to poop all over and get into garbage and be around those afraid of kids?

I don't like it one bit, not only for the public's safety but the dog's as well. I can't tell you how many dogs are laying on the side of the highway on a weekly bases. It's cruel to turn them lose and then if they hurt someone or damage property it's the dog that pays most of the time when it's strictly the owner's darn fault.

Yes, people are so torn up over the loss of dogs and cats - but every notice that the ones who let them run free have had so many over the years - and are so suprised when you tell them animals can live to over 15 even 10 yrs seems old for them.

It really ticks me off to see that going on! It is dangerous and unfair for every one and thing involved - potentially getting hit by cars, attacking peopl, eating poisonous stuff from the trash!!! I just ahte when people are to lazy to fence in or walk their dogs. We live in apts now and so the dogs naturally have to go out on leashes, but even before that back in our good old trailerpark days I still walked them until we built a small fenced in dog run. Why would you put a pets life in jeopardy unless you just didn't care and then why even have a pet? I would be willing to bet that these are the same people who have no clue where their kids are at night. Too lazy!

I like your answer. I've heard of all of these things happening- in Anchorage - I lived in a neighborhood fairly close to a major road and our neighbors let their dog run free, knocking over my trash and barking up and down the neighborhood. Here kids are out and about - but near by in the neighborhood even after dark but as I said in the other discussion its safe.

I absolutely hate it..My dogs have to stay inside the yard (not that I would let them(, so why should others just let theirs roam...It annoys the hell out of me that my children cannot even play on their own front lawn because of the dog poop on it...And its not even my dogs...Not to mention what diseases they may have roaming around the streets..

I would say that it depends of the size and breed of the dog. A pit bull running free is a little different that a poodle doing the same.
I am afraid of large dogs without a leash. I hear a lot of news about dogs attacks and they usually attack children. They can even kill an adult.
And there are the problems you mentioned. The dirty they leave behind and of course the children might get scared of them.

Some are afraid of all size dogs. Any dog can die. Plus there are evil people in the world. My mom's poodle, Jet, got murdered by a neighbor in our own backyard - poisoned.
